Straight to the point. I know it's been pretty much decided among 667ers that Poe is laissez-faire, but I'm definitely keeping it in my mind that Poe is helping Olaf, because you always have to keep an open mind.
Anyway, it is enforced plenty of times throughout the books that the man from the Sinister Duo (SD) has a hoarse voice and the woman has a deep one. If you were coughing all the time, your voice wouldn't particularly be hoarse, now would it? But if you were pretending to cough as part of a Voice [insert something that begins with F here] Disguise, then you probably would.

And your theory is? That Poe is the same person as the MWBANH, or what?

I think that's the point. Weren't they both in the same room during the trial in TPP though?

They were both in the trial, and indeed Poe submitted evidence, and Strauss would have said something if they were the same person (she wasn't kidnapped until long after all the evidence was submitted). In fact, the Baudelaires saw the man with a beard but no hair in the lobby when they were escaping on the elevator, and then they saw Poe on the very next floor. There's no way he'd have had time to run up the stairs to the next floor, get changed into different clothes, and put on whatever disguise he's used to prevent the Baudelaires from recognising him, and put on a blindfold - and more importantly, there's no point in him doing so.

Voice [insert something that begins with F here] Disguise, then you probably would. I think you mean Voice Fakery Disguise. It's the third stage of V.F.D. disguise training.

Yes, that was a good idea, but unfortunately it didn't work out. Anyways, I would have thought the Baudelaires could see through Poe's disguise as they saw through Olaf's...

They never saw the MWBBNH or WWHBNB. Therefore, they couldn't "see through the disguise".

Who never saw the sinister duo? Because the Baudelaires have, on at least three separate occasions.

Did they ever see their faces?

During the trial? Not at first, but the Baudelaires took off their blindfolds later. And they almost certainly saw the faces of the Sinister Duo in TSS.

Myabe they saw them in TPP, but in TSS they were under the car and could only tell that they had auras of menace.

I'm pretty sure they saw their face in TSS, maybe not from under the car but when the Baudelaires were having that dispute with them over the sugar bowl and Sunny.

The Baudelaires saw the sinister duo's faces in TSS (Sunny several times while she was doing chores for Count Olaf, and all three Baudelaires and Quigley saw the sinister duo when they climbed to the top of the mountain (in the case of Violet and Quigley, for the second time) - the sinister duo didn't leave until they'd captured all the children, and that happened after the Baudelaires had climbed to the top with Esmé). They saw their faces when they removed their blindfolds at the trial in TPP, and they saw them again when the elevator stopped at the lobby on the way to the roof at the end, when Count Olaf was going to fetch the Medusoid Mycelium.

Oh, you're right.*walks away, feeling stupid.* But it pretty much disproves the Poe=MWBBNH theory.
