Say Lemony died (or rather, faked his own death) a few weeks before Book 13 was set to publish a la "disappearing" before TPP came out. That would definitely suck. Thoughts?

That would just kill me. I would be so PO'ed.
But really, would Lemony do that to his readers?

If you mean Lemony Snicket rather than Daniel Handler, then that would be an interesting parallel to his vanishing act for TPP, where both he and the novel were supposedly missing.
Not sure if it merits a thread though, but meh. The key words are "not" and its important partner, "sure."

I don't think they'll repeat what they did with TPP--Snicket being "missing"--but it'd be interesting if Book 13's website and such implied that the character Lemony Snicket was dead, and in the book itself we learned just how he died, and possibly that other volunteers completed the investigation. But it'd be confusing if Handler were to kill off his own narrator.

But it'd be confusing if Handler were to kill off his own narrator. And, as I've said before, Lemony Snicket is a very useful creation, and one who it would be wise to hold on to rather than do away with. There's so much you can do with the character - he's practically a real person himself, giving interviews and writing introductions to other books.

What other books has he written introductions to?

The Bears' Famous Invasion of Sicily, his favourite book as a child (both Handler's and Snicket's), and Noisy Outlaws, Unfriendly Blobs, and Some Other Things That Aren't as Scary... He's also written a couple of non-aSoUE short stories, including The Lump of Coal, and you can probably find more information on Wikipedia.

Another bad ending, which has been discussed, is the "it was all a dream" theory.

That would not be a suitible ending. Unless he dies at the end of the book. Which would Suck, because Lemony rox bigtime.

He does rock, even though he's a fictional character.

Whoa! All a dream thread. Baby in a Manger thread. Please, let's keep to the topic. I'm not really sure if this merits a thread either, since the "All a Dream" thread covers this topic. Dante, your call.

I recall a little while ago whilst those who did not wish to look at the spoilers were slowly uncovering every piece of TPP cover puzzle. Anywhos, the piece of the books which says Snicket down the bottom had been revealed but the piece with the words "By Lemony" had yet to come. It was then when someone suggested purhaps this piece was being delayed because rather than saying "By lemony snicket" it may have said "By Kit Snicket". My point being that I found that a brilliant idea at the time and still do now. If Lemony were to die/go missing again his sister may take over the story. However, I don't think this will happen.

This is also covered by the Best/Worst Possible Ending and, more importantly, How Will It All End?Since the thread is going off-topic all over the place, and is really steering in a more general end-of-the-series direction, I'm afraid I'm going to have to close it. Apologies, Grace; you may want to try and discuss your ideas in one of the linked threads. Locked.
