In Book 10, Lemony Sicket offers valid proof to the theory that his books are written 2 or 3 adventures behind the Baudelaire's (i.e. Bad Beginning was writen around the time they ere with Aunt Josephine or at the lumbermill): In Book 10, Lemony writes a "hidden letter" to his sister, who we know nowi s Kit, another member of V.F.D. In the letter, Lemony writes that he will meet her at the Hotel Denoument and that she should get a room that didn't have udly curtains.
BUT, as we now know, the hotel was burnt down at the end of Book the Twelfth. There is a possibility Lemony and Kit might meet at the pile of ashes and rubble that once was the hotel, IF Lemony had not made the comment about gettign a room without ugly curtains. But this comment proves Lemony wrote this letter at time when the hotel was in order (or at a time shortly after it was burnt down and he thought it still was, although this is less likely because all fo the noble volunteers had ot be there by Thursday in order ofr their plan to expose the wrong side of the schism to work, and noble and well-read people are almost always punctual.)
So, we can concur from this that Book the Tenth as probably written around the time all the volunteers were gettign ready to meet at the hotel - as in, before the fateful Wednesday and Thursday of that same week.
SO what does this mean for the overall story arc? I guess, now that the last book is coming up, nothing, but it does raise some itneresting questions on what involvement Lemony could have had in the Baudelaire's advenutres, and his involvement with V.F.D. sicne the schism. What has Lemony been doing for V.F.D. when takign time off of his extnsive research o nthe case of the Baudelaires, and why does he always seems to be an adventure or two off? What set his research into motion i nthe first place?
Discuss.
