How many of you guys have been to a Lemony Snicket [Daniel Handler] book-signing? I have! It was TOTALLY awesome!
When me and my 2 friends first came, he told the crowd that he was so sorry, but Lemony Snicket could not be there, because he was bitten by a shark while swimming across the bay to San Francisco [where the book signing was]. Haha. He then went to a lengthy explanation of why to never raise your hands [because sharks can jump... don't ask]. He then called up two voulenteers... AND ME AND MY FRIEND GOT PICKED!
When we got up there the said "If you squeeze anything hard enough, whether it is a bag of chips, a balloon, or your gradma, eventually... it will make a noise." He then proceded to ask my friend to squeeze me, and since I wasn't making a noise, he yelled "Forget your friendship! Squeeze her!" After he said that, I finally squeeked from the pain of her squeezing me, haha. I don't even remember what that was supposed to "teach" us.
He then talked more... then he pulled out his accordion and proceded to play "Scream and Run Away". When he said "The count has an eye on his ankle..." I held up my ankle [which I had drawn an eye on earlier that morning] and he cringed. Haha.
Then he went into a room, and signed the books. When we got up, he signed my book "To Ashley: A future orphan". My friend asked him to do a Carmelita Spats impression, and he asked her if she could. She said she couldn't, so I piped up "I can!", and I did my best impression. Heh, when I was done, he said "That was very good... are you a professional actress?". Teehee.
Then, saddly we had to leave, because the people in line behind us were getting annoyed at us chatting it up with Lemony. That was such an awesome day. I will totally never forget it.
So what about you guys? Have any of you been to a book signing?
