As a fan of the books (which I know we all are ) I don't see the purpose of a video game. Could someone tell me what you actually DO in the game?

The video game is not really based on the books, but on the movie (which was based on the books). In the game, you take the role of the Baudelaire children (you get to be all 3 at one time or another) and work your way through Olaf's house, Uncle Monty's house and Aunt Josephine's house in an attempt to escape Count Olaf.

I have it, I love it, it's very fun. You should at least rent it for a week or so before you get all miss negativity on it.

My friend's Dad bought it for us to play one weekend. We began playing it at about 10 that night, and had beat it by the afternoon of the next day. It was a pretty easy game with the acception of the peppermint shooting level, and the flying around what was formerly an entire house of Aunt Josephine's. In conclusion, it was an ok game. It's at least worth renting. If that. EDIT: SHOOT! I didn't realize how old this thread was. My apologies Gigi.

I was playing it when I was ill last week: it's very easy, but some levels are very fun. I like Sunny levels mostly. It does get harder-I spent forever as Sunny in the Reptile Room, and I switched it off when I got to the peppermint bit. I can't do it! The crabs mostly...

SHOOT! I didn't realize how old this thread was. My apologies Gigi. The thread isn't that old. Just the topic since the game has been out a long time. Besides, there aren't too many posts in Putrid Products lately. So this keeps me on my toes!

Yesh. I personally didn't like how the He/she was portrayed in the movie..... it never came off to me like that.

I thought the game was fun. Only lasted me 5 hours, but it was a fun and well-spent 5 hours. The game is incredibly easy, but a fan of the books/movie will enjoy it. I liked that Jim Carrey and Tim Curry supplied voices.

I have the PC version and, I dunno, I guess I'm just terrible at video games. It seriously took me over an hour to get past the very first thing on the beach... I kept missing the log things and falling in the water... yeah.

My friend couldn't get past the spider level in Olaf's house. It took me 3 days to finish the game but only because I a) kept getting stuck on some sections and b) I had to take breaks because my mom was yelling at me to get off.

I'd just like to say that I bought the game for PS2 on eBay. I was never interested in getting the game myself, because I'm not much of a video game player. But I've got some younger cousins staying with us for the summer. It arrived today, and now the two of them and my little sister are 100% fixed on it. Did anyone here get very far into the game, or just buy it and get bored fast?

I got all the way through the PC version. I've never played the PS2 version. I suppose if I saw it at the game exchange for a cheap price I would pick it up.
