For the rest of us, today is the day that The Tragic Treasury comes out. I have plans to pick mine up this afternoon.

Dante, where did you purchase TTT, and is it covered in the American style, or is there a seperate UK one? Just out of interest. Cheers.

It's in the American style. I'm intrigued by those chapter pictures. Especially the one involving Olaf, which I won't say any more about because it's probably considered a spoiler.

Just to confirm what Phoebenica said - yeah, it's exactly the same as the American style, and I got it in a Virgin Megastore. I think the only difference to it at all between America and England was that it had a small card inside advertising the Egmont editions of the books (the lyrics booklet had pictures of the HC editions in the back, so that hadn't been changed, although the scan quality of the pictures they used was pretty poor).

From what I'm reading the versions are the same. Here in the US, I did not have a card advertising the Egmont books (or even the HC for that matter).
I don't like the cardboard sleeve it comes in, over the plastic case. It's rather extraneous and prone to being bent or damaged.

*sigh*
I suppose I'll get this on Saturday, when I get The End. I wish I drove. Then I wouldn't have to wait until it was convenient for my parents to purchase things. As it is, I can't really blame them for refusing to drive twenty minutes to a B&N on a weeknight, but still.

I got the CD on the 10th due to me being an American, and I must say it's a great album. My favorite song is "Dreary, Dreary" and I love the verse about Beatrice being gone and all. I think that'd be the second one.

Yesss, "Dreary, Dreary" is wonderful.
I got this. Yay.
Edit: "This Abyss" is great as well.

I haven't been on here for so long... Anyways: For the last track, "We are the Gothic Archies" there is some funny lyrics (weird lyrics). The first weird stuff is just pic-latin. But after the last written line of lyrics there is some more that isn't written in that is sung. It's like warped creepy gibberish. Is it supposed to be like speaking in tongues or something (it's after the line about worshiping Yog Sothoth). By the by, who is "Yog Sothoth" ?

Yeah, I was wondering what on earth they were saying as well. I wikipediaed it, evidently Yog Sothoth is a character from something or another - the works of H.P. Lovecraft, it seems.
Edit: Also, with regards to the CD, there seem to be a couple of distinct genres - okay, types? - of songs. Like, those such as "Dreary, Dreary," "This Abyss," "Things are not what they appear," are actually serious and dark, and then "When you play the violin," and "The world is a very scary place," are sort of mock-serious and dark. It's a nice blend, and quite entertaining.

Does anyone have a way of playing the song backwards so we can find out what it says?

YES, that's what I was thinking too as I listened to it this morning, and today in Psychology we were talking about subliminal messages and mentioned backmasking, and I listened to it again, and I'm quite positive that's it. But I sure don't know how to make it play backwards.
Edit: Okay, I downloaded some software or another, and what it says is this: So nothing new.

I thought they probably just mirrored the last line for that. Thanks for confirming it! The things added to the songs are usually either cool or annoying. For "This Abyss" I found the quiet echoing really creepy. Like someone almost burnt to death croaking out some last words. I like the "caw"s in the crow one. It sounds really overlapping and syncopated or something. Really cool. The squealing sounds in "How do you slow this thing down" were enjoyable for me, but some ppl will probably find them really annoying. I also thought #9 was cool, but it was an aquired taste for me. Sounded too upbeat at first. My favorite is probably "In the Reptile Room" though, because it puts images of snakes slithering and jumping out in my head. The sound effects are so neat in that one! And the lyrics are perfect.

Dreary, Dreary is my favorite. Not just on TTT, but overall. I think all of the songs were good.

I absolutely love this cd. I'll never forget listening to those songs on the audiobooks over and over when I first got into asoue. I love in the reptile room, it was the first one I ever heard. I pretty much like all of them though favorites are 1,2,4,7,9,12,13,14. Yeah I have lots of favorites.
