I received my copy today. It's hilarious, but a lot shorter than I had anticipated.

They say it has a 30 minutes performance time. I typed up a transcript, including musical notations, and it was only 8 pages.

The Toronto performance has come and gone. Here is an interview from when he was in Toronto for the show. The North Carolina Symphony Orchestra has the piece on their schedule for next March. Lemony Snicket is rumored to be slated to narrate the piece himself. And (Linda Rahldeen, are you listening?) he is also scheduled to narrate the piece at the Utah Symphony for their 2007-2008 season.

That interview ended really abruptly. Also, I don't understand the sports metaphor.

Utah Symphony? This I have to see. Even if I have to bus my way to Salt Lake and miss school.
Edit: Wait, that's March 8, 2008. I'll be living in Salt Lake by then, most likely. That makes things easy.

The date has changed. According to the Utah Symphony site, the performance will be February 26, 2008. Other places to see it (not necessarily with Daniel Handler): Memphis, TN September 23, 2007 Chicago, IL October 27, 2007 *with Handler Raleigh, NC March 8, 2008 Grand Rapids, MI April 20, 2008 Philadelphia, PA. May 10, 2008 *with Handler (I will be attending the Chicago performance!)

Oh man. Chicago. It's a Monday, though, and I'll be farther from Chicago than I used to be by a couple of hours. Still, though. Ugh, and I'd probably have to miss class. It'd just be a day, though. We'll see. I hope tickets don't sell out too quickly.
Wait, the link says it's Saturday the 27th, not the 29th. I'm going to edit your post to change that and you can change it back if for some reason it is actually on Monday the 29th. No. If it's a Saturday, I will definitely go.

I just might be able to pull off going to the Philadelphia one. Is anyone else likely to go?

Did I type the 29th, Shruti? Oops, sorry. I was going to e-mail you about the Chicago performance. Glad you found it on your own.
The tickets we ordered are on the main floor, seventh row.

They will be playing the piece THE COMPOSER IS DEAD. Hence the title of this thread.

How long do you suppose tickets will be available? I'm trying to see if I can get a group of friends to go rather than my family having to drive up to Chicago, but whenever I try to organize such excursions it always takes a while.

I should think they'll be available for some time yet. Even though we've ordered tickets already, they won't be mailed until August, and the show isn't until the end of October.
But I wouldn't delay too long, either.

My tickets came in the mail yesterday, earlier than expected.
Good seats are still available. I just went to their site and selected "best available" and it was only two rows behind my seats.
