Edit: Here's the note in question: Edit: I KNEW IT!!!spark man has just posted a confession of guilt. However, the technicalities of it don't quite stand up to scrutiny. I will continue to investigate, but don't hold your breath. But this fiasco may finally be drawing to a close.

Hello Fight Fire (Eye Detective) and all others,
I just wanted you to know that I have done it honestly and truely. I have obtained the 9th eye. But I have to tell you this. Like Count Olaf, I cheated. I did not find the eye, I just used some creative computer investigation and basically made the movie website believe that I have the eye. This was not a simple changing of a url or anything. This was editing a file that the website reads every time we log on. With the 9th eye you receive 3 new things (link to an icon download which appears to be broken or down, link to an aim file which worked fine, and a link to an internet pix file which allows you to scope around Count Olaf's house entryway and view various pictures and other items within his house). The view within Count Olaf's house was interesting, but nothing worth doing handstands over. Anyone on any website who says that you can view either additional photos or video footage of the movie after finding the 9th eye is lying.
Now, I am not sure if anyone would like me to go step by step on how I cheated. I really wished that I could have just simply found the ninth eye legitimately, but I just became frustrated and wanted to see who was lying online and who was telling the truth. The truth is the ninth eye does exist to some extent (although I cannot say where the real link is or if the link yet exists). The truth is I can show you how to cheat. The truth is, I am not sure if you will want to know how to cheat or keep searching to get some real satisfaction. Please let me know and I will comply...
Good luck all

Tell us how to cheat! Tell us how to cheat!
And if you can tell us how to get the missing concept art from the eighth eye as well, then we'd appreciate it.
Edit: *gasp* You've discovered my secret identity! Although I have many more. All of which are on the Punctilio.

Ok fight fire and any others of you who want to go down the dark path... I couldn't figure out how the web site could keep figuring out how many eyes I had found even if I cleaned up my temp files and cookies. I finally found an interesting file titled 'ls_eyes'. This files was located in the following folder... 'Documents and Settings\(my user name)\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\M88YXBFV\unfortunateeventsmovie.com\LS_teaser.swf'. (I by the way am a windows user and not MAC in case that makes a difference to anyone). The file is a .sol file which is a Flash shared objects file. I couldnt figure out how to open it properly until I found a free editor on the web at the following website. www.alexisisaac.net/spip/article.php3?id_article=12The program is called a '.sol editor'. I downloaded the program, installed it, and ran it and then opened up this file. It showed an open box titled 'eyes found' and under it were 8 entries (0-7). By right clicking on the 'eyes found' box gave me an option to 'add' and then further options for 'number'. Each of the previous entries 0-7 had a different value from 1-8 (my guess is that they were in order of the eyes as I found them). I added another number entry 8 and assigned it the value '9'. I then saved the file and quit and went back onto the website main page. Sure enough, it thought I had nine eyes. It worked on the Daily Punctilo, the main screen, and (most importantly) on the screen where you can view all of the awards you get for the various eyes. The eye was there as well as the link to the internet picture moving file for Count Olaf's entryway. I should just tell you that the first time I viewed the award, my internet server crashed for some unknown reason (do not know if it was linked to what I did or not), but future visits have not caused any problems. In regards to Sparkman. I have placed a challenge to him on the Daily Punctilio that you can read if you would like. I do not know if I will get a bite, but I am hoping to find out if he is real or fake. Since the Count Olaf house award is fairly unique, there should be no way he could fake knowing the award unless he happens to be eaves dropping here... at which case I am screwed. But if he is not here and he is real, then I should be able to convince him I have 9 eyes too and hopefully get the location from him some way... My guess is that he is a complete fake and that the 9th eye link is a botched link that does not currently exist... I guess time will tell

Tried it. It worked! Olaf's house is awesome!!! I want to live in a house like that.
And from the looks of things, the ninth eye almost certainly does not exist. They broke it when they updated the site. Completely mucked it up, in my opinion. Ah well.

So what is the word on Sparkman. I am trying to get him to respond on whether he is legit or not at the Daily Punctilio, and people there have been saying that he has already admitted he is a fraud... is that true?

Edit: I KNEW IT!!!spark man has just posted a confession of guilt. However, the technicalities of it don't quite stand up to scrutiny. I will continue to investigate, but don't hold your breath. But this fiasco may finally be drawing to a close. From the top of this very page. And his confession didn't really hold up to technical scrutiny, but it could happen, I suppose. Also, I used the SOL editor to change my Punctilio ID number to 1. Hee hee.

That funny! I just was curious in that knowing what it was like to be waiting and waiting, I hate the idea of letting the others on the Daily Punctilio just hand in limbo and sounding like another sparkman. But, if he really is legit and really knows the location of the 9th eye, then by laying low, we still may get some information out of him. If he is truly a fraud then there is no point and I would just tell everyone about the cheat... What do you think?

Just abandon them if they do not meet your needs; let them wallow in their own stupidity.

Here's how you do it: Rather than bump a several-month old topic that's not on the front page, you go to the quite obviously more appropriate Movie Sites Update' Thread - Eye Guide Inside! The clue is in the name - you know, where it says that it's an update thread for the movie site, and that it includes an eye guide.
