Sunnyrox, that's rather incoherent. Of course Lemony meant all the words of love for the adult Beatrice, not her new namesake. Quigley is the more likely caller because there's more evidence Quigley liked Violet -- such as his "Violet, taxi waiting" message.
Finally, Olaf may not have burned their house, but it seems likely their parents did kill his. And in spite of any last-minute turning points Olaf is clearly a very evil character.

Maybe, but do you think Bertrand and Beatrice were NOT noble people?

I don't think the Baudelaire parents were completely noble people. I think they were a mix of good and bad like a chef's salad with poisoned dressing but virtuous croutons. I expect they were like the Baudelaire children in that they tried to be noble but occasionally acted in ways that they were ashamed of and much like the older Bauds with baby Beatrice, omitted to tell their kids about their more wicked actions.

I think that they were machiavelic at one time, but no longer. In my opinion, they were teenagers when they decided to kill Olaf's parents, and just thought it would be glamourous, fun, and useful if we admit that Olaf's parents were evil VFDers. But this assassination drove Olaf on the way of evil, and it's at this point that they realized how horrible they have been. That's maybe why they didn't want their children to be taught about VFD : because they were regretful...

hmmm...good idea. it gose along with the thing in ASoUE where things in the past are repeated like when ishmeal tells the Bauds that story when they get inside the tree. But i'm not sure. Man how I hate and love how the Buads tell Ish he couldn't figure out every mistoury in the world even if he tried CAUSE ITS SO TRUE!!! We'll probably neve find out about all the mistorys rasied by ASoUE and for that i hate and love Daniel for creating ASoUE.

But I think the mysteries of V.F.D. must be solved! The sugar bowl, "?", "The Man With a Beard but No Hair", "the Woman With Hair but No Beard", etc. can't still be unknown! In fact, I want all the wolld's mysteries to be solved, but that's another question.

Has anyone else noticed the mentioning of a bathyscaphe, in both The Penultimate Peril and The End?
"...you could read an account of an interpretation of sausages that went horribly wrong and lec to the destruction of a very important bathyscaphe, all because I mistakenly thought the sausages were arranged in the shape of a K when actually the waiter had been trying to make an R..." - pp. 266 The Penultimate Peril
"...then you won't know how I ended up on a certain bathyscaphe..." - pp. 218 The End

That's an excellent observation, and one I noticed also. I intend to use it in a future fanfiction.
Here's my theory. Ishmael blundered into a V.F.D. mission meant for Lemony, perhaps by inadvertently giving a waiter a password at the Anxious Clown, something like "tea should be as bitter as wormwood." (He has started putting a bitter antidote into his tea after the near-poisoning case of his one-eyebrowed student). Meanwhile, Lemony misread his sausage message and went to the wrong place for further instructions.
Ishmael didn't know how to operate the bathyscaphe properly, and ending up wrecking it. Hence the shipwreck leading him to the island, and the destruction of the bathyscaphe that Lemony blames himself for.

And was anyone else touched when the Baudelaires visited Olaf's grave as well as Kit's? *raises hand* *raises hand too*

Yeah, I was touched too... Gosh, they visited Olaf's grave... To spit on it. (that's no sarcasm ! it's actually an obscure litterary reference)

I'm not saying I wanted this to happen but it would have been funnier to see how Olaf had honoured the memory of the Baudelaires if he had succeeded in slaughtering them.
Olaf: I never would have killed you orphans if I'd known someone stole the fortune a long time ago. I would have just made you my personal slaves.
On the down side he would have been a terrible guardian for the girl he would probably have named Olaf.

You all could guess this was eventually coming my post... Here it is.
Although I was hoping with my entire soul that Olaf was going to propose to Esme in the PP I had that sad book to read. I had hoped Esme would come back like Jerome and not argue, therefore avoiding the whole death thing that was hinted at in PP.
I have one dirty little secret... I"M NOW A HUGE KIT/OLAF FAN! Shhh! I'm still loyal to my ship....mostly...
Which brings me to my little belief. Olaf had a relationship we never knew about with Kit all this time. Now this brings me to look at why Esme was so mad at Jacques in book 7. I believe both of our villains were at one time Snicket fans. And by that I mean the schism split right down the middle of the Snickets and their loved ones.

Jacmé ? Huuuuum. LSUA, Jérôme to Jacques : "Esmé can't wait to see you ! She says she'll finally give you what you deserve..." But... Hanna Squalor ? A Kitlaf fan... NO ! THAT CAN'T BE ! ESLAF OR SEPPUKUUUUUU ! Well, anyway, Jacmé... I like this idea !

I always thought that that quote was more like "give him what he deserves=kill him" because he is on the other side of the schism.
