I've got this English project due next week called "The Parting Speech." It's got to be me, talking for 3-5 minutes, about something. I can read something someone else wrote, read something I wrote myself, read a part from a play, etc. The condition is that it has to be dramatically read (with feeling....) And also it needs to have something to do with leaving, saying good bye, and anything else that one might read when ending the school year or leaving people.
Any ideas?

Can you sing songs? If you can, then that song from "The Sound of Music" might help.

I never did like doing this. But just wright out a plan with Ideas, then put them together in paragraphs.
Like start with... well, it is about saying good bye? And you have to talk for 3-5 minutes? Could you give us a little more description. I could probably whip somthing up with my dad. Alexa-

Where you are seems to be As far as an eternity Outstretched arms open hearts And if it never ends then when do we start? I'll never leave you behind Or treat you unkind I know you understand And with a tear in my eye Give me the sweetest goodbye That I ever did receive
Pushing forward and arching back Bring me closer to heart attack Say goodbye and just fly away When you comeback I have some things to say
How does it feel to know you never have to be alone When you get home There must be someplace here that only you and I could go So I can show you how I Dream away everyday Try so hard to disregard The rhythm of the rain that drops And coincides with the beating of my heart
I'll never leave you behind Or treat you unkind I know you understand And with a tear in my eye Give me the sweetest goodbye That I ever did receive
Pushing forward and arching back Bring me closer to heart attack Say goodbye and just fly away When you comeback I have some things to say
How does it feel to know you never have to be alone When you get home There must be someplace here that only you and I could go So I can show you how I feel
thats the lyrics to Sweetest Goodbye by: Maroon 5
i hope that helps u some how. its kind of lovey.

I thought of something: You can do something like about Lemony & Beatrice. I just thought of that. Maybe you can say some of the song Graduation by Vitamin C. That can be very emotional;. Trust me. Just 2 suggestions from the great Minor Threat.
Saying goodbye is a painful thing. You may never see that person again. If you think about the many friends you have, it would be sad if you could never see them again.- That could be a start.

Maybe you can say some of the song Graduation by Vitamin C. I love that song! It would work quite well with his particular situation.

Here we go.
Saying good bye is always hard to do. But that is why I must speek to you. We must say goodbye, so we will never forget. But we will always remember, with no threat. That is why we must regret. To say goodbye, will be really tough. Good Bye Good Bye, to all of you. Good Bye.
If it has to be for 3-5 minutes, you probably do not want mine.

Wow. Bunches of Magnetic Fields songs come to mind, but you probably don't want them. You could twist them around and dramaticize them and stuff. Or, if you wanted, you could quote bits of ASOUE where they're torn away from their friends and family.
Actually, I read a book called "They Cage the Animals at Night" which is all about a kid being adandonned, and taken to different homes, and not being supposed to make friends with anyone, because he knows he'll have to say goodbye and it'll hurt. You could try getting a hold of that...

I like the idea about Lemony and Beatrice...or those lyrics.

Personally, I'd check out chicken soup for the graduate/high school student's soul and pick out a good story from that. Maybe the old one about how one act of kindness prevented the valedictorian from commiting suicide.

Here's a better description of what I need:
A PARTING SPEECH
1. Over 3 miuntes in length (less will not be accepted.) 2. Good voice (loud, clear expressive, good enunciation.) 3. Good body language and gestures. 4. Good eye contact. 5. Clearly stated message or point. 6. Well thought out props, costumes and aids are acceptable. 7. Must be ready on Monday, May 17.
Possible Topics: What Matters Most Prejudice and Tolerance Authentic Living Dramatic interpretation of play or monologue. ________________________________________________ He basically said we have lots of choices on what it can be about, but it should have something to do with something ending, saying goodbye, what weve learned.
I could always write something myself but I don't really have the time, and I'd rather read a parable, essay or part of a story. Probably not lyrics to a song or anything like that. Maybe a poem.
But it's got to be over 3 minutes and less than 5.
