Entry 14
I was shocked. Someone had pushed me down the Slippery Slope, and I was sliding a whole lot... Who pushed me? I was anxious to know but more anxious to find out what would happen when I- "Ow!" Quigley shouted, and slid off the edge. I slammed into Quigley so hard that I almost stopped completely. Violet still had her eyes closed and after once kissing the ice cold air opened her eyes and, for the first time ever since the arrival of Quigley, looked at me. She had a blank expression on her face. But I didn't care. I rushed to the edge of the cliff and looked down. The lifeless body of my brother lay on the cold ice. I was ready to scream. I had killed my own brother. I was so disgusted... I felt like Violet, a murderer. Doomed. Dead. But my brother's voice echoed from below. "Help!" It wasn't real. It couldn't have been. But I looked down again and saw that my brother was hanging from a frozen tree branch sticking out of the waterfall. "Help!" he shouted one more time. But I looked at the body that lay on the ground, on the ice, on the verge of death. It was Katherine. I was utterly shocked. Lemony Snicket's sister was dead. I was seeing things... I must have been. I blinked. I blinked again. The dead body of Katherine Snicket wouldn't go away. "Help!" Quigley shouted another time. I didn't know how to help my triplet whom was hanging off of a tree branch sticking out of a frozen waterfall in the middle of the mountains. I was only a journalist. I didn't know how to help him. But there was someone who could... "Violet," I said. "Violet, your boyfriend" -I added in a grunt- "Is hanging from a tree branch. He needs your help. Your the inventor." She didn't say a word. She just sat and stared open mouthed at me. "Violet!" I said more firmly. She blinked. "Y-yes, I'll help." Then she searched Quigley's backpack that he brought along. After a bit, she pulled out a long rope. "Duncan," she said. "Tie this end of the rope to that rock over there." I was happy. I couldn't help grinning. I was taking orders again from the love of my life. I did as she said, and went back to the edge of the cliff to see Quigley, still hanging there, the body of Katherine Snicket still motionless. Violet threw the other end of the rope around herself and tied it with the Devil's Knot. Then, she jumped. The rope was just long enough for Violet to be hanging beside Quigley. She said, "Hold on." He hugged her stomach and Violet ordered me, "Duncan, pull us up." I did. It wasn't easy, but after about an hour they were back on the mountain ledge with me. "Oh, my love," Quiglrey said, taking Violet's hand and staring deep into her eyes, the same thing I had done back in Prufreck. "You saved my life." Then kissed her. She kissed him. Then the kissing finatic started all over again and I grunted. It was at the end of the day when Quigley and Violet noticed me. He said, "How are we going to get back up there?" Violet took the rope and tied it to the same rock again. "We'll climb." It was well after midnight when all of us were at the top again. We hadn't found Sunny, and before walking back to the tent with Hector, Klaus and Isadora, I took a last glance where Katherine lay for respect. But, as the moon shined on the ice, all of it visible from this height, there was no body on it. Katherine was gone.

Here might be a few questions... 1. Who pushed Duncan? 2. Why is Isadora acting so funny? 3. Where did Katherine go? 4. Why does Violet like Quigley? 5. Where is Sunny? 6. What happened to Olaf and friends? They will all be ansewered in the next entry.

Entry 15
It is my dear sister's birthday today, but I don't dare tell her. Why? She's been acting very funny. Last night after we got back from the kissing-slippery-slope act, she walked off into the night by herself, then came back hours later. There were so many things I needed answers for. Where did Katherine, Sunny, and Olaf and friends go? What did she mean a week ago about her brother beeing up here? Who pushed me down the Slippery Slope? Why is Isadora acting so funny? Why is Violet ignoring me?Why does Quigley like her? Why does Violet like him? I must say that when I found out all of the ansewers to these questions, all of the ansewers being dreadful, I was shocked. I wanted to die. And it all happened when I woke up early in the morning... "Duncan," Hector nudged me. "Duncan, wake up." I opened my eyes to see Hector's jolly face, and he continued. "I've got some really bad news for you." Bad news? That was all I needed more of. Bad news. Between Violet and Quigley liking each other and Isadora being a loon, what more bad news was there? I wanted to scream. I wanted to scream so bad, that I had to pinch myself to keep it in. Then Hector continued. "Katherine and Sunny are gone." I sighed with relief that it wasn't the utter most of bad news. "Oh, Violet and I'll go look for her again." Quigley lied. "And make out again?" I snarled. Quigley looked angry. But I continued as if it were tea time. "Oh, and you two looked so cute together. Lip to lip. All day long. And not even bother looking for Sunny." Quigley was ready to burst, and Hector looked at me. "Duncan," he said. "Why would your brother do something like that?" "Ask him." I said, pointing to Quigley. "Quigley," Hector said. "Is this true?" Quigley scowled, and said, "Go to hell, Duncan." And ran off to the Slippery Slope, Violet running with him. Hector sighed. "I'm not very good at things like this." "Don't feel bad," Klaus said. He was just starting to cry. "I know Violet will make the right desision and come back..." But he didn't seem to sure of his ansewer. Isadora just pouted. "I think they make a cute couple." "Yeah," I said. "Just like you and Klaus." Klaus just stood there, astaring after his sister, but Isadora screamed, and her skirt-dress lifted again to see her leg blink. "And what is it with having three eyes?" I screamed. Isadora just started to stare too. "No," She said. "No, it can't be! It just can't be!" But she lifted her skirt-dress a little bit again and as soon as it stopped swinging, we saw a clear picture of an eye on Isadora's left ankle. "Is- Isadora?" Klaus asked, getting out of his trans. "Yeah, that's right people," Isadora said. "I'm a part of V.F.D." Hector screamed. I was ready to cry. "So is this why you've been acting all loony since we met Katherine?" I said. "And where were you last night?" Isadora's face went a strawberry red. It was either from anger or embarassment. "And is it you working with Quigley to hurt me with Violet?" This I wasn't too sure about, but Isadora spoke. "What? I have better things to do than to work with that idiot." "And where is Sunny?" I snarled. "Why ask me?" She said. "I have no idea where that fanged tooth brat is." But knew she knew where Sunny was. "Where were you last night?" I asked again. "I was with Katherine and her broken leg." Isadora said. "With her brother," and she stopped her dramatically, "With the Snicket File." Some of this mystery was coming together, but I was still confused. And for my last question, "Why did you push me down the Slippery Slope?" "Huh?" Isadora said. And for the first time in this worded war, she seemed to be telling the truth. "I didn't do that, and I never even knew you did fall down the slope." "Into Violet and Quigley kissing." Klaus added quietly. But then, Isadora ran off into the tent, and we all looked inside, to find that she wasn't there. "She's gone." I declared. "Gone with the wind." "Actually," Klaus said. "The wind is getting colder up here." And he was right. Figures. Leave it to Klaus to say something like that at a time like this. But without a word, I chased after Violet. Not really Quigley, but Violet, though they were in the same place. Amnd I heard Hectro shout from behind me, "Good luck!" I ran all the way where their footprints ended. They ended at the Slippery Slope. I looked down it to see them kissing again. Ugh. But this time, I heard someone behind me. I turned around to see Klaus standing there. He was ready to push me. Again. "Klaus!" I said. "You were the one who pushed me!" Klaus grinned. "Yup." he said simply. "But why?" I asked. "Why did you do such a thing?" Klaus just smiled, and he said, "I hate you. I figured if I pushed you to interfear with them kissing, Violet would hate you forever. I think Violet is by fay better off with Quigley. But my plan didn't go as planned last time. She just ignored you. But I wonder why..." Klaus thought fior a moment, and I did too, until- "There they are!" Count Olaf's evil voice shouted from further away from the slope away from the tent. I was scared. But I was even more shocked when I saw Sunny in his arms. "Help!" she cried, but before I could do a thing, Klaus took this oppritunity to push me down the Slippery Slope. But he did it strangely. I went down diagonally, and I must tell you that my diary doesn't end here. I have way too many entries to go, but I fell off the slide of the slope. And when I landed, I had the most painful experience of my life.
