I was reading on Barnes and Noble about the Grim Grotto, and it says in the annotation, or something, that the Grotto that they go through is called the Gorgonian Grotto....I think it somehow has something to do with GORGON, from the thing about Gorgon and Quisling... hence, GORGONian.....Here it is, I looked up the word, and it says:
1)Pertaining to, or resembling a Gorgon; terrifying into stone; terrific...etc.
INTERESTING....
Discuss, please.

The exact quote:
<<Still pursued by the evil Count Olaf, the Baudelaire orphans attempt to reach a very important VFD meeting, but first they must travel in a rattletrap submarine to the Gorgonian Grotto, a dangerous underwater cave, in search of the sugar bowl. >>
The sugar bowl is the "something lost" that the children desparately search for, possibly what the submarine mission is out to find. Gorgons are snake-haired she-demons like Medusa, who can turn you to stone if you look at them. Maybe there will be snakes in the grotto, or the hypothetical villain named Gorgon. However, I still think that Lemony just put Gorgon on his list of names for villains because it's a neat allusion.

Uh, a Gorgon is a sister of Medusa, and Medusa and her sisters turned people into stone with their stare, with their eyes...

I have a theory that the cave will contain rock formations that look like people turned to stone, their faces bearing an eternal look of unspeakable despair. Then again I could be wrong.

It said "in search of", so that doesn't necessarily mean they find it. However, it seems they will find jellyfish--sorry, sea jellies--and anglerfish. You can come back from the dead now.

Haha, well, your probably right Raven, that's probably why it's CALLED the Gorgonian Grotto. If it's not....well, it was an interesting idea..
