I was just wondering why are the Star Wars films not made in order? it's weird that the 6th one came out first! ( It is the 6th one isn't it?) I just find it a little odd

I think the 4th came out then the 5th and then the 6th. But the Lucas wanted to give a backround to Obi-Wan and Anakins past so he made 3 prequels

You just ruined Star Wars for me because the only thing of that that I knew was Darth Vader being Luke's father.

Completely unrelated, but my dad went to the original opening of the 4th. In...er, whatever cinema it is where all the stars and people go. The first day it opened.

Um... yeah. People, spoiler warnings are good. Because it's not always so much that people didn't make connections, as that there are people who haven't seen the movies yet. So if you could take the extra two seconds to write "***SPOILER WARNING***," I'm sure it'd be appreciated.

When I was 5 I saw the first Star Wars in the theatre, this year my son will be almost (20 days shy) 5 when we see the last one...
As for why Lucas started out with Ep IV, well you have to understand it used to be called "The Adventures of Luke Starkiller" www.starwarz.com/starkiller/fan/starkiller_timeline.htm
He made the first Star Wars self contained: the Death Star is defeated, everyone but Chewie gets a medal, so in case it bombed the story was told as best as it could be, but with the fact that Vader spins off into space Lucas prayed he could make his other movies (the original print did not have "Episode IV-A New Hope" during the opening scrawl) as it was a hit, the money came in and the rest as they say is history.

lucas jusy made the 3 sequals because he needed money Oh certainly, I saw him begging for change the other day...*rolls eyes*
the fact that he could make MORE money is certainly a factor, but make no doubt, he was not hurting at all for cash....

lucas jusy made the 3 sequals because he needed money moron. If you want to know the history behind star wars, the extra dvd you get in the box set does a good job of explaining it.
