It's especially ridiculous considering that it's the villain who swears, and Snicket goes to some length to explain that swearing is something that only villains would do.

i just realized that esme and olaf are both distant relitives so one way or another they must be related Esme and olaf are related now shut up and deal with it

They aren't related.... I don't think Olaf is even related to the Baudelaire in the first place. Really he probably called Mr .Poe and lied.... Geeze.....

They aren't related.... I don't think Olaf is even related to the Baudelaire in the first place. Really he probably called Mr .Poe and lied.... Geeze..... I knew this would tick (see, Dupin? I'm not swearing. ) Hanna off. Besides, if the family tree really is a family tree, and not a neophyte (whatever) tree, then E and O are related, unless of course E is Ernest, which I'm betting on, because of the DEF reference.

I dont remember the books every saying that Esme and Count Olaf were distant relatives at all.
