If Snicket's world were real, I would keep a commonplace notebook to catch the attention of VFD so they'd recruit me. Yay... I want to be a member of VFD!

If Snicket's world were real, I would keep a commonplace notebook to catch the attention of VFD so they'd recruit me. I'd keep careful notes on creepy teachers, waiters, and crows. In fact, that's pretty much what I'm doing now. Everyone around me is a bit of a creep, some of them in Snickety manners. If I'm not mistaken, this is my 100th post. I do keep a commonplace book. Stupid of me isn`t it?

Keeping a notebook is a good idea, especially if you're a "writer" like me. You never know when something incredibly cool will happen and inspire you to create a story. So it's not stupid to keep a notebook where you write suspicious and/or strange and/or funny events.

The story doesn't have to be real for you to keep a commonplace notebook. What if Lemony changed all of the names? What if he streached reality? What if the stories really do exist? It's possible, but unlikely. Who's ever heard of a hurricane on a lake? It's impossible. But the truth could have been streached...

J: Did I slap you already? C: Never hurts to try again. M: Don't be mean to the ickle really cool member, J. Endy: She's like a puppy or someting. M: Anyway, I don't think that any of this could be real. Endy: Not that it wouldn't be 1337 if it was... M: You'd want there to be a secret orginazation burning down things? Endy: No...not a such...but I love imagining myself in literature. M: Oh. Right. I'd forgotten--so do I.

I don't think the events and characters of the series are real, at least not in the traditional sense of that word. It could be called "stretched reality" if there was a kernel of truth behind it, but there isn't one. A more proper term would be "far-fetched fiction."
