I have the same TB8 cover as Dupin, and I like the new one better. It does seem to be partly a promotion for Adverbs, but the photograph itself looks cool. I'm not sure if I'll get it, though; depends on how much it costs.
As for the croquet mallet being a major motif--I don't think we even see a croquet set until some time into the book, so it's not a continuing motif. Though the big scene everyone remembers from the book is the croquet mallet murder, so I think it works as an archetypal image.

Oh, that's...not what I expected. It reminds me of the Assassination Vacation cover for some reason. It does remind me of Assasination Vacation and other Sarah Vowell novels, minus the figures being toys.

I personally like the new cover better, but I'll likely not buy it since I already own it. As far as including the photo from the book, I hope they don't. It would be too weird to see their versions of the characters. Plus, would you include Natasha? It just doesn't seem like a very good idea.

If they don't have the photo, it would be a big mistake. ;-; I have a feeling if there IS a photo, there will be tons of mistakes.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the cover was Alice in Wonderland.
I'm going to get the new copy just so I can have one with pages that aren't falling out, and I'm also going to get a copy for my friend's birthday because it comes out around the same time as her birthday, and she borrowed my copy and liked it.

*looks at thread* Croquet? Absinthe?
Now I feel a need to read it.

I like that cover. Maybe I should get it since my current one is getting old and my old one now has 90 pages out of it instead of just 30.
My teacher ordered a copy to read for Book Club. She got the UK verison and I hadn't seen it before. It was awkward. She said she felt weird carrying it and didn't think she should be seen with it in public. If only she got the other verison, I don't think she has a problem with Alice in Wonderland.

I was thinking about Natasha the other day (I was attempting to draw the famed photograph)...I always thought they could simply blur her. Like, Flan, Lily, Douglas, V____, etc., could be normal and staring at the camera but Natasha could be blurry.
