I think 'the picture you probably have in this file' refers to the coffin one. then maybe Lemony took the crowd pic...

i dont think its worth going through all the rows trying to find omeone because their faces are blackedout ne way and its not like he set up this really old-looking photo just for the book. daniel would hav just found some old crowd photo, picked afew people, blacked out their faces and slapped it in his book to confuse people and get them to stupidly sit there for ages counting strangers' heads.

ya, we know. and if u dont think its worth it to go back through the book and count the rows to try and find him then u must not try very hard to understand the books, because if u really think about it, their are many parts to the puzzle, making a very complicated plot. and "ne way", this board is made for people who go in depth and want to discover all that they can about the books by working together and adding bits and pieces to develope theories and ideas as to how the series will end and other key details in the stories. so if u dont wanna take the time to go in depth, then u probably are wasting ur time here.

It's not a matress frame. I'm guessing the coffin was being taken out of wherever the viewing/funeral was held, and they had to get the coffin INTO the building (before Lemony arrived) somehow. The "matress frame" would have been helpful in wheeling the body in.
Lemony was standing outside under the umbrella on page 5 when he heard the camera. He then took a picture of the photographer. So we have two views of the funeral; one from Lemony's (the crowd) and one from the photographer (of the coffin).
Cremation usually comes BEFORE the funeral, so a large coffin wouldn't have been necessary if they had cremated the body. I did some research (heh) for the second part. Coffins are supposed to be carried feet first at all times, loaded into the hearse the same way. Then it is taken out of the hearse (head first due to loading it in feet first), and placed in the proper burial grounds.
I could find the website again if anyone want some direct sources.

Yes. Lemony said he heard the click of the camera "as my coffin was carried into a long, black car." so it had to have been taken after the viewing/reading/whatever.

Actually, if you look closely at the doorway, you'll notice that it only is covered with a curtain, and no door is in sight (could be behind the cutain though). And the decoration at the top...does anyone else see a fleurdelis? Anyway, some people like to have their funerals outside of the funeral home; maybe this is a residence or office of someone who knew Lemony or the one who said he had died? Maybe they're the ones who set up the whole thing.
The Daily Punctilio said that there wouldn't be funeral services. Were they lying about that as well? Possible, especially since if they didn't announce a funeral then how did Lemony go to his? But they also said a burial may be scheduled for "later this year" and the burial was clearly right then, the same day before the Prospero departed. BUT Lemony said that the only true statement was the last, and that's the one about the burial. So either he was reading an old newspaper of the DP lied (again). But he said it was true, so it must have been an old newspaper.
And circles and circles and circles.

But if the "mattress frame" was used to wheel around the coffin, and it was too heavy to lift, that means there was someone/something inside. And don't coffins have handles for people to carry it in/out of the church or to the cementary? If it had handles, why would they need a "mattress frame"?

Maybe I should try to explain things better from now on...I think I'm begin to ramble. Mechanists have that wheely-thing to wheel themselves in and out from underneath a car, right? I'm saying that the wheely-thing in the picture is to help slide the coffin in and out of the hearse. Then they could grab the handles to carry it wherever.
Something heavy. Sugar bowls?
(By the way, I had a dream about "sugar pots" last night. Too much ASOUE? ...nah.)

The "other force" could be The Man with a Beard and The Woman with Hair...or other people on the "bad" side of the schism.
And anyway, the men are already carrying the coffin. Why would they put it on the mattress frame if they were just to lift it up again. (I think this has already been said)
Pg. 5: "The only thing that turned out to be true about my obituary was the last sentance," Is this the part about the burial?
I'm confuzzled. And the store they are coming out of - is the writing in french? If it is, it must be in Canada
1. In Quebec, most people speak French 2. "et province" Canada is divided into provinces.
I was thinking this could take place in Winnipeg, since Lemony's friend, the Duchess, seems to live there. But most people in Winnipeg speak English.
