readin LSUA i noticed in the script of 'Zombies in the snow' and the secret message hidden in it (underlined) it said that hidden in a snowman is a survivor of the fire. They may be another fire and survivor but it can't be Quigley, can it? if he was hidden in a snowman he would have said and they must be a member of V.F.D to know about the coded messages. Also it said ' bring the three children,' so the survivor had something to do with either the Baudelaires of the Quagmires, i cant figure it out, maybe it's a parent?

I think that too.
I remember in a poll about who the survivor was everyone was voting for Quigley, but I'm betting my money on Beatrice. (Not littrlely)

maybe the characters know more about this whole thing than Snicket if possible...

ok Swans thanks for pointing those out, i didn't notice because i haven't been on this site for that long..... but thanks anyway lol!
And yeah i do think the characters know more than Snicket, for example if Beatrice was alive, he doesn't know that yet some characters do.

What I was saying is:
she dies in book thirteen. Then when Lemony is researching their lives she is dead.

But Quigley said that after the fire he went directly from in the passageway under his house to Dr. Montgomery's house and then to Paltryville and after he was in Paltryville, he came to the Mortmain Mountains (PAGE 172 OF THE SLIPPERY SLOPE) if he was telling the truth, when would he have had a chance to be hidden in a snowman in a movie?

What I was saying is: she dies in book thirteen. Then when Lemony is researching their lives she is . I agree... I think... the time frame is so confusing... either he thinks she's currently deceased but she's not and he finds that out in book the thirteenth (he catches up with the Bauds and then she either lives or dies) or she's currently deceased and has died in book the thirteenth. ~~~ I'm putting my money it was her in the Snowman, timelined events (don't remember which pages... I've lost my copy of LSUA right now) show that she was alive for at least part of the series- J writes Lemony and mentions both an event in the series (something that happened in the 4th or 5th book since J dies in the 6th) and Beatrice; he goes on to tell L that he can not risk her life as well as his own by seeing her. As such we can pretty much assume she was alive at least in the fifth book. ~~~ Quigley? I doubt it- ZITS happened when Monty was still alive, remember? Quigley didn't show up til he was gone.

What I was saying is: she dies in book thirteen. Then when Lemony is researching their lives she is dead. Exactly! She survives but dies in book 13!
