A wet viper perm: "Err, weep, vamp it." Yeah, not very helpful.

Are there more encoded letters? I suspect they would only show up in LS letters to BB. I think there are two missing letters we should include: L and S. I'll also repeat here my two-phrase anagram: BRAE MAN + MY CO STAR = BERTRAM, A COSY MAN I thought the same thing, for the reasons you state, and when I anagrammed the letters all together I got the words "Snicket brae-lass." This was about midnight and I haven't checked it since, but it seems to square more with the things we know, whatever it means, than anything else except "Beatrice sank." Your two-phrase anagram is interesting, but Mr. Baudelaire's name was Bertrand. I guess there could be a Bertram somewhere too, but I'm unwilling to see any more random things thrown into our mix.

Another error in the letters if the wrong "of" in The Sebald code. FEAOF If there an R missing anywhere? There is an R missing in LS to BB #5. LS talks about a "malfunctioning typewrite9."

*slaps forehead* Of course! "typewrite9" How did I miss that one? Good job, Agnes!
So combined with "my silence knot" we have FEAR OF LEMONY SNICKET. After all, he's not who we think he is. . .

Fear of Lemony Snicket??? Do you think he's a villain after all? The only anagrams I got were: Beatrice Sank Baticeer Sank A Grae Snicket (which makes sense in the knot poem in the back of the book)

F E A O F R combined with the "Beatrice sank" letters: when re-anagrammed, I got "Coffee-break artisan." Could this be a reference to the stained letter? The mysterious R who received that letter "accidentally"?

I'm not exactly sure if this is discussed, but I posted this in the discussion thread: I've been reading this thread, and I've noticed something that doesn't appear to have been discussed: The BEATRICE SANK anagram (what it means). If the boat on the poster's name is Beatrice, then Lemony could be connected to it. Option 1. He named it Beatrice, after the woman he loves, but she rejects him. Option 2. He asked her to marry him on that boat(?) something involved Beatrice on that boat, so he did Option 1. Option 3. He neglected the boat (not before doing Option 1) when she rejected him. Option 4. Maybe Olaf bought it off Lemony? (and Lemony did Option 1) Option 5. Olaf stole it from Lemony? (and Lemony did Option 1) There's a range of possibilities in the circumstances that it got it's name, and how Olaf got it, assuming that's the boat that the Baudelaires and Olaf used at the end of TPP.

The only ones I could find so far with the punch out letters are: Beatrice Sank Baticeer Sank A Brae Snicket Snakebite Arc Bankers Ace It Break Tin Case In Bare Casket Casket Nearbi(y) Bi(y) Snake Crate Snake Ate Crib
Olaf's writing could be: Reaper Vet Wimp Vampire Pewter Preemptive War
By the way, I had major help with some of these. I didn't think them all up by myself (just the obvious ones).

These letters are encoded in the letters: LS to BB 3: F (Deaf instead of Dead) LS to BB 5: E (Missing from Denouement)* LS to BB 6: A (Misspelled Independent)* * from "Dear Diary" Isn't the rule that the correct letter is the code, not the incorrect one that replaced it? (That would be consistent with the 9 -> R case, anyway.) Then: LS to BB 3: D LS to BB 5: E (ok, missing from Denouement) LS to BB 6: E LS to BB 5: R There's a DEER or a REED involved somehow?

OK, RockSunner you're probably right about the wrong/right letters. But I got some good stuff with the wrong ones!
So Deer Beatrice Sank will re-anagram into "Bat-Eared Sickener." Does that mean anything to anyone?

With the addition of "DEER", we could get: Eek!! Sir- a rented cab!!! A dire cab. Seek tern. (a tern is a type of gull, isnt' it?) A cab rider seek net. See a red cabin trek. Retie a back sender. Steer in a bad creek. RE: In a baked secret. A beard secret kine.
Or: Seek darn Beatrice!!! ( I like this one) Beatrice needs ark. (this one makes sense!!)
While I'm on the kick, you can get neat anagrams from character names:
COUNT OLAF Cola of Nut No Taco Flu Fat Uncool
LEMONY SNICKET My Silence Knot Nice Style Monk My Nine Lockets Sickly Omen Net
VIOLET BAUDELAIRE A Veritable Duo Lie
CARMELITA SPATS Rascal Pats Item Apt Lite Sarcasm Pest Is Alarm Act Spasm At Article Recital Am Pasts
ok,ok, I'll stop now...

The following ACTORS could be Beatrice's CO-STAR:
(Anagram MY CO-STAR with BRAE MAN): NERO: MAMA'S BAT-CRY. (Anagram MY CO-STAR with THE BRAE MAN): ERNEST: A MATCH, MAY ROB. (Anagram YOUR CO-STAR with BRAE MAN): BRUCE: NO STRAY AROMA

I don't know if any of these make sense (most don't) but they sure are fun!

A Veritable Duo Lie could support the "Beatrice 2 is Violet's Twin" theory.
LQTS* at "Seek Darn Beatrice".
*laughed quietly to self. I rarely LOL.
