Aunt Jemima’s Homemade Cures shocked and amazed them. So funny. I actually went into the store and got Aunt Jemima's syrup. She gave him a hard look, then frowned at the burning papers and stalked out. She had no tail, of course, but still gave the distinct impression that had she owned a tail, it would be swishing back and forth angrily. I love being catlike. *purrrrr*

I really like how you combined the two themes. You must have watched both Shrek movies a lot.

You must have watched both Shrek movies a lot. No, actually I haven't. I've seen Shrek 2 a total of two times: once back when it was in theaters, and once in spanish about a year and a half ago. I was hoping to get ahold of the movie and watch it again before starting this, but I was never able to find anyone willing to lend it to me.

Chapter 7
“Is your hair straightened yet?” Jemima called through the bathroom door.
“Not quite,” PJ said. “Why do I have to straighten my hair, anyway?” he whined.
“Because you can’t be recognized,” Jemima said. “And hurry up. After you’re done I still need to die your hair, and I’ve got to leave in a few minutes. And I’ve found a pair of sunglasses for you to wear; I’ll leave them out here for you. You can’t go wearing your regular glasses.” PJ groaned, but obeyed her.
Meanwhile, A. was bouncing around, ecstatic at the cure of her glitch. She was a little puzzled by the way she’d been knocked out like that, but assumed it was a natural part of the cure. She was also a bit worried, because BSam was still missing. And so she set off again, much to the dismay of Alice who wanted her to stay in bed and fully recover.
Just as she was opening the front doors, though, she was stopped again, this time by Akbar. He swept in front of her and shut the doors, muttering something about keeping out the cold. Just before they closed, though, A. caught a glimpse of a horse and someone short wearing a mask. “Akbar!” she exclaimed. “I haven’t seen you since yesterday!”
“Yes, well, I’ve been very busy, what with the new forumdom to see to and everything,” he said. “And Alice’s told me about your glitch cure. Congratulations.” He tried his best to sound excited, and failed spectacularly. “Where are you off to?” he asked, subconsciously blocking the door.
“Well, I wanted to go looking for BSam. You haven’t seen him, have you?”
“As a matter of fact, Jemima told me she found him just a few minutes ago,” Akbar said. “If you ask her, she’ll probably show him to you.” He was still having trouble appearing happy. But then, he had been pretty angry with BSam earlier…that probably had something to do with it.
She thanked him and stood there for a second or two. Jemima had quite a habit of appearing suddenly, and A. half-expected her to pop into the main hall right then and there. But she didn’t, and so she turned back to the front doors. Akbar was still standing in the way, and staring nervously down the hallway A. had just come from. She looked questioningly at him, and he pointed down another hallway that A. hadn’t seen before. Bewildered, she started down the hallway…and bumped into a strange young man, who looked lost and confused. He was wearing sunglasses and his hair had been died an obviously artificial shade of red. “I’m sorry!” she exclaimed. “I didn’t see you coming!”
“Neither did I,” he said, still a bit confused. “In fact, I can’t see much of anything right now. Who are you?” A. noticed he spoke with an Australian accent that sounded vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t quite place it.
“I’m A.,” she said. “And why don’t you take off those ridiculous sunglasses while you’re inside the castle? You’d probably see much better without them.”
“A.?” he asked. “Why-“ and then A. heard someone clearing his or her throat. Confused, she looked past his shoulder, but no one was there. “I mean, A.! It’s me, BSam!”
A. frowned. What was this guy thinking? “But you don’t look anything like BSam!” she said angrily. “What are you trying to pull?”
“No, let me explain. I – I got knocked me out for nearly a day, and when I woke up, I looked like this. It was a glitch cure! And now I’m cured of my glitch, just like you are! This is what I looked like, before the glitch,” he said, all in a rush.
A. still wasn’t sure whether or not to believe him. BSam had a different voice, and she didn’t trust those sunglasses. But she decided it wouldn’t do much good to argue, and didn’t want to hurt BSam’s feelings if it turned out to really be BSam, and so she nodded slowly. She followed him as he walked down the hallway and explained that Jemima wanted to talk to her. She didn’t notice the other man being held by several guards who was trying desperately to get her attention.
“A.!” BSam tried to yell, but his mouth was covered up and all he got out was a muffled “Mmmh!” he had come into the castle through a side entrance, and had seen A. by the main doors just before she left. In his hurry to get her attention, though, he had failed to notice Akbar, or the guards that were closing in on him. The four guards fell on him at once, and all the while, A. walked further and further away with the imposter.
BSam glared at Akbar. “You won’t get away with this,” he said, struggling to free himself. But Akbar was already hurrying away somewhere, carefully holding a scroll of some sort.
“Quiet, Swamp creature,” one of the guards said. It was a female voice. He stopped struggling for a moment to get a good look at her. She looked vaguely familiar. As he stared at her, she nodded. “Yeah, you probably recognize me. I’m a former 667er, by the name of Kimia. But all that’s changed now. I’m captain of the guard now, and you are going to spend a night in the newly-built prison.”
Several other guards came in from outside, holding two other struggling figures tight. “You won’t take me alive!” Deanna shouted, using her gender-disguising accent. One guard with incredible foresight had taken her sword away just seconds before Deanna thought to use it.
“BSam, we saw A., but then the door closed and-“ Ron said, while trying to kick a guard. He was cut off when someone shoved a cloth over his mouth.
“Oh, so these two are your friends,” Kimia said offhandedly. “They can join you then.” She turned and addressed all the guards. “All of them are going to the prison,” she told them, and they all nodded and escorted the three prisoners.
Once locked up inside the prison, BSam groaned. “What are we going to do?” he asked.
Deanna smiled. “Don’t worry about that. Just before they took us, I sent a message to 667. 667ers should be coming to get us soon, provided the situation over there hasn’t worsened,” she said, matter-of-factly. BSam and Ron both brightened. “Of course, it was quite a shame that they had to take my sword,” she said sadly, fingering her empty scabbard. “That was a magnificent sword, and I don’t know where I’m going to find another one.”

A special thanks to SnicketFace for inadvertently reminding me to stop forgetting about this story. I've had chapter 8 written for quite some time now, but haven't gotten around to posting it. As for the rest...well, I'm about halfway through with chapter nine, but finals are coming up, so I might have to delay the story a bit unless I find some time to work on it. Maybe this weekend I can slip in some time for a writing spree, or something, because I don't want to turn into an author that doesn't finish stories. Anyway, here's chapter eight:
“A., it’s so wonderful to see you!” Jemima said. “I was so worried when you just collapsed like that, and so glad when I heard that you’d been cured of your glitch! I see you’ve found BSam,” she said, nodding at the young man that had found A.
“Well, yes, at least it seems like it,” A. said. She glanced over at ‘BSam’, who was grinning at her. “The glitch cure must have really changed things,” she said hesitantly. “I don’t remember him being like this before.”
“Oh, well, there’ve been a lot of changes lately, and we all just have to get used to them,” Jemima said.
Alice came running into the room suddenly, panting hard. “What’s this I’ve been hearing?” she asked between gasps. “BSam’s been found?” She eyed ‘BSam’ skeptically. “He doesn’t look like he did before.”
“It’s the glitch cure!” both ‘BSam’ and Jemima said at once. “He’s been cured too, just like A.,” Jemima said. “That’s why we couldn’t find him.”
“Well, anyhow, now that he’s back we can concentrate on A.’s adoption again,” Alice said. “In fact, we can probably get it done tonight! And A., we didn’t tell you this before because we wanted to keep it a surprise, but Akbar and I have been planning a separate marriage ceremony, just for you and BSam, since we missed your other one.”
“Oh, well, that’s great,” A. said, wincing inwardly. She’d been trying to avoid the adoption, but somehow the plan had been forgotten in BSam’s absence. This would take some quick thinking.
Back at 667, several of the 667ers were heading over to the Alarming Announcements castle. They had finally caught up with twistedbrain’s recruiting group and banned the lot of them, and the disappearances had finally stopped. Most of the 667ers had been accounted for and were on their way to Alarming Announcements at that very moment, so that they would have strength in numbers should anything else threaten 667. Derik had had an idea to throw a party to raise morale, and so that’s just what they were about to do.
Just as everyone was arriving, though, a PM arrived for several different 667ers. It was very brief and rushed, saying simply “BSam and Co. is being captured and put in 1334 prison. Send help immediately.” It was signed by a single word: “Puss”.
“What’s this?” J. asked when she had finished reading her PM. “I don’t know anyone named Puss!”
Libitina, a Detriment Deleter who had just arrived, gasped in surprise. “It’s Deanna! I was with her the day before she disappeared. She kept saying something about Puss in Boots, and I asked her if she was feeling all right. She must have joined up with BSam at 1334!”
“Well, if that’s the case, we should go rescue them!” Dupin said. “They’re loyal members of 667, and it sounds like Deanna is too. They’ve probably found all the loyal 667ers and were captured on the way out!”
Soon, a large group of 667ers had assembled and were on their way to 1334. They had no idea what they were going to find, but were prepared for almost anything. All of them were fully aware that time was extremely valuable; for all they knew, five minutes could mean the difference between arriving on time and too late to help BSam’s group. Nevertheless, it was nearly dark by the time J. spotted 1334 in the distance. By the time they were near enough to spot the building that most resembled a prison, it was fully dark, and a large and round full moon was rising.
In the prison, the three prisoners were examining the empty bottle of glitch cure. They had long since discovered any possible means of escaping, and found them all to be futile. They had discussed the plan in low voices, but a guard had come and told them to stop whispering. And then they had sat in bored silence, until Deanna remembered that she had brought the bottle and had taken it out to examine it.
They had found a Proboards support label underneath Jemima’s label, and quickly torn off the top one. Jemima’s label was of no interest, but the other one had a complete list of ingredients, instructions, and side effects. They took turns reading it one at a time, and out the day long knockout had been a standard side effect of the potion. Just as it was getting dark and they thought they’d read it all, though, BSam noticed a single line of handwriting scrawled at the bottom. “Glitch cure is only permanent if sealed with a kiss within 36 hours.” It said.
BSam rolled his eyes. “Sounds like something in a stupid fairy tale. Jemima’s probably added that, because I truly doubt Proboards would put that on their cures. I’m not worried.”
Ron looked out at the moon rising slowly over the forumdom of 1334. “What time did we take that potion?” he asked.
“About mid-day, yesterday,” Deanna said, staring at the moon as well. “That means you’ve got until just before midnight tonight to seal your cure, if that label’s to be believed.”
“But that’s just it! I don’t believe the label!” BSam said.
“Do you really want to take that chance?” Deanna asked cryptically. “I think we should try it just in case. Only problem is, we’re stuck in here. Where are those 667ers when you need them?” she asked.
“We’re right here!” a voice called from outside, startling all three of them.
