Ehhh! I hate how they take out the Scouring, that was an awesome chapter and it would give the audience some emotion. This is no fun. That's why I want to become a director: to base films on books that stay uber close to the books.

however impractical that may be...
have you seen the movie adaption? it's about someone trying to adapt a book to a movie...

They are leaving out Scouring of the Shire. It's because they didn't want to end it with a lesser climax than Pelanor Fields and the Battle of Morannon. Ah! The idiots! The last two chapters are what sets the book apart from the works of mere mortals! All the lessons of the entire novel come together at that point. Without them, the book is a shell of a story. How can they do this?!?!? Insolent fools! It's not a lesser climax, it's anticlimactic! It's TOTALLY better than the damn Pelannor Field or the battle before the Black Gate, because itshows everything that Tolkien was getting at from the very beginning of the book! Will they still have the Grey Havens? Buttheads.

We should fly to New Zealand and kill the screenwriters then force PJ to make us the screenwriters, or not. *sigh* what are we going to do.....

pj's doing just fine... just think hoiw much worse it could be,...for example have you seen one of pj's earlier movies, "Bad Taste" it's great but i don't think lotr would do well going in that direction..

I agree that PJ's doing a fantastic job with the films. I doubt anyone could do them anymore justice, but that doesn't mean I can't be upset about missing out on two of the best chapters in the books. I'll get over it. Anyway, what's PJ's middle name . . . maybe Brian? I can only hope.

Will they still have the Grey Havens? Buttheads. Yes. The last 20 minutes or so of the movie are going to be, like, all emotional. And think of it like this: The Scouring of the Shire, action-wise, was less than Pelanor Fields and Morannon. It was a force of hobbits against, what, four score men? Pelanor Fields was Gondor and Rohan against 200,000 orcs. I forgot what Morannon was. Then, there's the time issue. Most people don't want to sit for a four to five hour movie (I would).

now let's be resonable. peter jackson has done an awesome job to date. he loves these books just as much as we do and wouldn't do anything SERIOUSLY stupid to them. they have a bunch of people who loves these books doing this movie so it shouldn't be too bad. i say we wait and see. oh and as for the feeling you get after reading lotr, i'd say it's one of the weirdest feelings in the world. like i felt happy, sad, and mad all at the same time. like i didn't know what to do with myself. i felt like ripping out my hair and crying and smiling too. it was so good! i wanted more but it felt like enough too. ;D great books.

Amen to that, Fife! Anyway, I agree that there's really nothing more PJ could do, and he has done an exceptional job so far. Honestly though, I'd rather see the battle in the Shire than the other two. It just really brings the whole thing to heart, ya know? No one was unaffected by the war, and even the smallest evil can cause a huge wound. At least that's what I got out of it. But oh well. I'll be happy no matter what happens.

Saruman. They changed his death for the movie (look on page 2, bottom).

They aren't even going to have the Scouring in the DVD Extra's. The second biggest mistake, next to Tom. And wasn't the Morannan the bit with the Mouth ofSauron (who I have seen- he has a croc jaw on his face!)
