(after reading chapter 3) eeeeewwwwww!!!!!! Olaf! gosh, he almost makes me retch! And Esme is becoming one crazed-up fruit loop! It was a great chapter, but Esme is really developing some issues, and I can't see them getting particularly better any time soon...but maybe some time Away from Olaf at the Academy will do her a little good. maybe she'll meet some guys her age. normally I don't mind major age differences, but Esme's underage and Olaf's just messing with her head! Dx

I know. Emma is such a brilliant writer, even if the whole Esme/Olaf thing is a little twisted.

shotzgoboom: Hey, thanks! Yeah, the thing about the way I write Olaf is that I always make him a total creep. Though I've always pictured him as having verbally abused and beaten Esme, for some reason I don't see him as having been that way with Kit. I think this must stem from my beliefs that although Olaf never truly loved Esme, he was the complete opposite when it came to Kit. May: Aww, thanks. And yeah: the whole Esme/Olaf relationship is most certainly twisted.

I love the way both Esmé and Fernald have grown up in the illustrations just like they did in the fic What an awesome illustration. Also, I LOVE their haircuts!

Here is Sasha's particularly heartfelt interpretation of a scene from chapter four. Enjoy. My God. It's been ages since I've updated. Right now, I'm just burned out from one-shots and recently started working again on an original project, but I plan to get up to speed on In the Shadows again next month. So bear with me, guys!

Geraldine is PERFECT!! And don't worry about not updating. The suspense is half the fun, right? That and the random conversations we have in between chapters.

I know! Didn't Geraldine come out great? Sasha was 100% spot-on with the way I picture Geraldine. And thanks-- I think I just needed a break from writing ASoUE stuff for a while in order to give my inspiration a chance to rejuvinate itself. Because I really do want In the Shadows to be as good as it possibly can. *attempts to start a random conversation* My goodness, but it seems I've become addicted to Twilight in the last month or so. I just finished reading the first book, and I'm four chapters into New Moon. I love Esme. SO MUCH. I want to hug her. I watched Twilight on Friday, and I actually started to tear up during the scene where Bella is convulsing on the floor because it upset me.

Twilight is so addictive! I remember reading it when it first came out (and everyone thought I was weird for reading about vampires- then it became huge and now they've all read it.) and I really loved it. I remember reading New Moon whilst on holiday in Tasmania and being really upset for no reason I think it was because I love Edward so much. And I can totally picture you writing a fan fic about Esme and Carlisle. Could they be the next Esme/Jerome?! *Faints*

*WARNING* For those who haven't read New Moon and want to, there's a spoiler ahead. The ending of chapter one was so depressing, and I actually got upset during the scene where Edward breaks up with Bella and just leaves her in the forest. It brought back many memories from my breakup with my first boyfriend, and I wished that book had been around and that I'd read it at the time. Maybe then I wouldn't have felt so alone. I seriously cannot wait for the movie. And Dakota Fanning is going to be in it, which will just make it all the more awesome. ;D I'd love to try my hand at an Esme/Carlisle fic sometime. I'll probably wait until after I've finished reading the books like I did with ASoUE before I write anything, though. Esme and Carlisle are such an adorable couple, and remind me so much of how I write Esme and Jerome. I was especially touched by Esme Cullen's backstory, which was when she became my favorite character.

There's an Esme in Twilight? That's amazing. (I thought at first you were proposing a crossover.)
