Lemony's predicaments also become increasingly bizarre and dire. I believe the first suggestion that he's in imminent peril are the implications that he's been sentenced to an execution in TEE; by TVV he's been imprisoned, suggesting that the execution *was* cancelled; in THH he's in a bizarre situation involving an Italian restaurant; by TSS he's free again and heading for the Mortmain Mountains. He then heads to the Hotel Denouement from there, and after that it's unknown - if he *is* the taxi driver from Chapter 10 of TPP then he did leave the hotel.
By TBL he is apparently no longer a fugitive (when was it first stated that he was a wanted criminal?)

This assumes, of course, that he's reporting the events more or less as they happen - which some evidence supports, while other evidence contradicts it. No doubt this will provoke much discussion as we go along. I'm not sure - he's no longer physically on the run, but I think he may be living under an assumed name. I think Beatrice refers at one point to 'someone with the same intials as you', suggesting he isn't actually calling himself Lemony Snicket. The description of the masked ball in TAA, with the palace guards chasing him, rather suggests it. I guess 'the author's execution has been cancelled' in TEE makes it more explicit.

He notes that it's 'unfortunate' for him that his execution has not been cancelled in TEE. Presumably he is facing execution at that point.
