When was i makin a subtle point? You weren't. But if Anka had not actually declared herself to be Luna, you would have been, saying 'I am Luna's husband' and thus leaving us to work out who Anka is.

I apologize for my lack of punctuality! I was, as Professor Flitwick kindly notes, preoccupied with the fight against evil.

Welcome, Minerva!
Since no one has taken up my suggestion that we assign ATWQ characters to houses, I'll have a go.
Ellington: definitely Slytherin (though possibly good Slytherin; time will tell). Stew, and his parents: also Slytherin, in the Crabbe and Goyle style. Qwerty: Ravenclaw. Pip and Squeak: Ravenclaw. Moxie - I'm guessing Hufflepuff, though I can't be sure. Theodora - oh, that's tricky. Hogwarts doesn't really have a house for incompetence.
Any suggestions?

I think Theodora would not be in a house, but would be a very boring and unintelligent teacher whom everyone hates.
All the Mallahans would probably be in Hufflepuff. Where would Lemony be?

I still think of Lemony as Hufflepuff.

Rolf Scamander is Luna's wife, I believe. Or even husband. Sorry, I meant husband.

Theodora could theoretically turn out to be a sort of Neville Longbottom with a big ego.
But maybe she's just an incompetent Professor Snape.

Theodora could theoretically turn out to be a sort of Neville Longbottom with a big ego. But maybe she's just an incompetent Professor Snape. Theodora is not as awesome as Neville. I think she would be a muggle who thinks she isn't.

We don't know enough about Theodora to decide if she is or isn't as awesome as Neville, that's why I said she might turn out to be. After all, Neville wasn't really that awesome in the first books either. But I like your wanna-be wizard muggle comparison as well.

Welcome back, Luna! And yes, that is a nice thought. I mean, I see that she in a way like Neville, and in a way like Snape. But her incompetence seems to be her defining quality, and while there are incompetent people at Hogwarts, I don't think that's true of any of them. We don't know enough about Theodora to decide if she is or isn't as awesome as Neville, that's why I said she might turn out to be. After all, Neville wasn't really that awesome in the first books either. But I like your wanna-be wizard muggle comparison as well. I think Neville was established as awesome in a way form the start, with the way he stood up to his friends. He took a while to develop into a leader, certainly. But you could see why he might be in Gryffindor, which I can't really see with Theodora.

Lemony reminds me of Snape in a way. Snape was in love with Lily, but she married James and had a child. Lemony loved Beatrice, but she married Bertrand and had three children.
And off-topic, my favorite character is actually Harry, I just decided to be Peeves since I thought it would be more fun to pretend to be him. It's a shame he isn't in any of the Harry Potter film adaptations.

Yes, the Lemony/Snape comparison is very notable. But I don't think they are similar characters; they respond to their situation very differently. (Another plot parallel is Remus/Tonks/Teddy with Dewey/Kit/Young Beatrice.)

And I just realized this: Both the Baudelaires and Harry lost their parents.

Her incompetence seems to be her defining quality, and while there are incompetent people at Hogwarts, I don't think that's true of any of them. Gilderoy Lockhart would actually be someone from HP that represents incompetence, and in fact, a big ego as well. Although he is also much more cowardly and slyly friendly, the latter of which Theodora is not. (Still makes for a noteworthy comparison, though, I think.) We don't know enough about Theodora to decide if she is or isn't as awesome as Neville, that's why I said she might turn out to be. After all, Neville wasn't really that awesome in the first books either. But I like your wanna-be wizard muggle comparison as well. But you could see why he might be in Gryffindor, which I can't really see with Theodora. Yes, I remembered that as well, but Handler could reveal her actually being a secretly 'good guy' in a kind of more plot-twist fashion, than the very slow character development of Nevillle, which I guess, would be more akin to Snape. That's why I mentioned both, I see her as a combination of the two HP characters' interesting trait contradictions. Say what you will, Theodora is still a member of VFD, and not a "muggle."
