the "irim" part is a beautiful and intentional mispelling of a part of my ~real~ name. Ah, these in-jokes are confusing. (And yes, I know I make them too.) Has anyone made a joke about Esme Squalor and in-jokes?

i love frickin camping but everyone else i know hates frickin camping so i never go. That's my life right now too and it makes me so sad. I even know that I'm getting my dream sleeping bag for Christmas but I don't know if I'll even get to use it! I was going to suggest we go on a camping trip near Vegas, but desert camping actually sounds terrifying. I need my trees.

Dragging the topic back to HP, I would point out that Ginny was actually almost two years younger than Harry, and Hermione/Krum had an even bigger age gap. (Possible ASOUE-HP parallel: Hermione/Krum and Klaus/Fiona.)

(Possible ASOUE-HP parallel: Hermione/Krum and Klaus/Fiona.) In both of these relationships the boy/man/whatever you want to call it is older though, which I think is a little more common, while Fiona is older than Klaus, and Violet is also older than Quigley (of course older than Duncan too, and Isadora is also older than Klaus.)

Remus was older than Tonks and that turned out terribly for everyone involved.

The entire conversation of age gaps in relationships is ridiculous. Anything that isn't between a child and an adult shouldn't be creepy if they love each other for realsies (yes, Mister M and Anka is technically child/adult but you know that's not what I mean). My parents are 15 years apart and it has never been an issue.
Edit: God, this thread is way too derailable. I'm sorry, let's go back to Harry Potter. In response to Hermes' comparison of Fiona/Klaus + Hermione/Krum: besides the ages, I don't see much there. I think Hermione/Krum is a lot more like Violet/Quigley. Violet and Quigley had an immediate "connection" after barely knowing each other for that long, and after there intimate moments they barely saw that much of each other at all. Which is very similar to Hermione/Krum, in which it seems more like a bizarre and one-off subplot.
