and "we talk as soft as chalk" goes without saying. such similes are the lifeblood of the album, to me. it's weird how the lyrics have the most vivid immediacy of any JN album, but because of her singing style there are some lines i didn't notice till after years of listening. (i don't make a habit of looking up lyrics i don't understand, for whatever reason.)
