I thought that too- it's interesting how the logo seems to be V.F.D. accurate, while this tattoo is questionable. Perhaps we can't see it well enough in these images, but interesting indeed if it's different. IT LOOKS LIKE the VFD illustration INSIDE a circle. Like the VFD symbol is the pupil...of another eye. Looking at it really closely, there's certainly something going on there!

Also guys did you pay attention to Fernald's hooks? They look like the one Rick has on the comic of The Walking Dead.

I've always thought of them as mixed up with it but not directly affiliated. I suppose it'll be just as ambiguous here, as it's probably not relevant to the plot as to how involved they are.

I'm pretty sure they're not going to apply an ankle tattoo in every scene, especially where the actor might only be shot in the background or something. EDIT: But also I agree with Liam, it may just not be relevant to the plot at all.

I'm loving everything about this. I'm finding that the Netflix approach feels a lot more grounded in reality while the movie really embellished on the fantasy. I think this is a better approach to snicket's world. I can't wait to hear NPH voice as Count Olaf that's the only element I'm still questioning. I can't wait to see the Baudelaires

Honestly, I don't how to feel about the tattoo. It does match the illustration in the first book, but it lacks the hidden lettering of the later version (Though it's possible they hid the VFD in there in a different way or maybe the eyebrow is on there and it's just not overly visible). On the other hand I don't like the later eye insignia (It's not bad mind you, I just feel like it's not that great), so I don't know how exactly to feel about this. I'll reserve judgement on that matter for now.
I am wondering if perhaps the bald man and Fernald were combined into one character. Really that probably would be for the better given that the bald man does so very little throughout the series. He's always the troupe member I forget about...

I feel like that they need at least 5 members. Wonder if they cut the group member death from TCC if the bald man is no longer a member. I think the tatoo is something that I do see the worry about but I like the idea of having different vfd tattoos not just the one. I always thought it would be too easy to spot vfd members then. Also these are all photos taken on camera phones and what not the characters will look different on the sets with lighting plus good cameras. All of these can make a huge different to the look of the costumes.

I think it'd be a shame to have a smaller troupe in regards to the bald man being cut, but I also trust them to make sensible decisions in terms of making it as interesting as possible. And like you say, strangely, the bald man isn't incredibly active in the series. Perhaps having Fernald instead would help bring relevance to his story arc. It's 3AM in England now and I made this out of excitement EDIT: I'm pretty sure that Fiona is Fernald's sister and not step-sister, but correct me if that's wrong. Usman Ally is from Africa, so I would assume that Fiona would have a similar ethnicity

Maybe the different tattoo in Olaf's ankle will have an explanation... hm.
Also, considering that now we know what kind of car Olaf has, four regular members of the troupe confirmed plus Olaf would make sense to make them fit in the car, considering Esme joins after THH when the person who looks neither like a woman or a man dies.
Maybe they'll have the rest of the troupe, but they just appear during TBB chapter/s.
(I know how it feels Liam, I should be sleeping/studying/doing my homework but I CAN'T)
(also yes, Fiona and Fernald are siblings, the Captain is their stepdad)

And like you say, strangely, the bald man isn't incredibly active in the series. Perhaps having Fernald instead would help bring relevance to his story arc. Yeah, at first I kind of thought that cutting a member from the troupe might make it too small, but then it occurred to me that the troupe gets larger as the series progresses. So really it's better to cut superfluous members now before it becomes overcrowded. After all the bald man is just so pointless. He's never really developed as a character, in fact I can only recall three moments in the series where he does anything (Threatening Violet, pretending to be the Foreman and dying by Lion). Though even his death is kind of pointless given that a much more important character died at the same time. Looking through the pictures on the Daily Mail again I'm noticing that Count Olaf's scarf is seemingly stolen from another character. He's pictured next to a man who's wearing the scarf and then in the next picture Olaf has it. I'm wondering if perhaps this is a shot involving the bank and perhaps Olaf is stealing nicer looking clothing to make a bigger entrance. It would explain why the scarf, jacket and hat don't really go together. This definitely seems like something Olaf would do.
