I was very excited to witness my first Darkies, and I must say, the event lived up to my expectations. :-) Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and a hearty well done to the organizers/banner-designers/presenters/et alia.

Ahem, excuse me? Ladies and gentlemen, before we end this beautiful ceremony, I'd like to say a few more words, and may need someone to correct me. Reba , if you please... Okay. Hello again, everyone. First of all, thanks to those who voted for me as Best New Member. Second of all, I swear I didn't drink much wine during this ceremony. Just enough. It's crazy how during last year, before all the craziness for the Netflix Adaptation started, people still registered and became part of this beautiful community. It's crazy how after 14 years people still joins, and it's amazing how it resisted those 14 years. I had a forum once, and I know how hard is to keep them alive. I'm one of those new members who arrived last year, like lorelai, who won this year's Best New Member award with me. We were nominated among other wonderful people who registered and stayed for a while and then disappear, or who are still around but don't appear so often because we all have a life and stuff to do and it's perfectly fine. The thing is Lorelai and I are not the only new members who still stick around and post and be an active part of the forum, and even when he got one vote less than me and Lorelai, I would like to make an especial mention to @peppermince . I don't know how to say this in English in a way that doesn't sound bad or selfish, but I think we are truly the three Best New Members of this year, despite the votes. I would also like to remark that Pepper is actually the youngest here, and that's important, since this forum is about children books but it's full of adults and teenagers. We all grew up and didn't give up on our love for Lemony Snicket's universe, but Pep's actually living it at its fullest. So, Pep: thanks for being around, for all your threads and posts, for all your energy. Sorry if sometimes we're not patient enough with you; as I said when you joined, you look way older (not irl -irl you look like a baby-, but on the Internet) and sometimes it's really easy to forget you're actually a kid and not an adult, even when we treat you like if you were our age. I'm sure the others feel the same way. And I'm not saying that in a negative way; as I told you in the Penthouse, enjoy while you're young because you'll always miss those years. Now I'm going to stop acting like a drunk grandpa and, ignoring the votes and everyone's opinion, I'm going to say you're the Best New Member of this year too. Because we all can do our best to win the other 12 darkies next year, but to win Best New Member you only have one chance. And you deserve this. I made this one for you. I hope you like it And sorry if my english was particularly terrible this time I don't have much time to re-read the whole thing and make sure grammar, gender and number concordance and all the other stuff is correct. That's why I tagged bear anyway.
