You do insults like I do compliments. Decide for yourself which that was.

wasn't an insult, it was an observation. Your observations are inherently insulting

do you only read books that have movie adaptations or something why do you ask? do you have a problem with that? and anyway, this is the Dennis Lehane thread, not the What Kind of Books Teleram Reads thread. (please don't actually make that thread, i have enough stress in my life already)

wasn't an insult, it was an observation. I assumed it was since it gently reeked of hipsterness and was directed at teleram.

i don't have a problem with it, it just goes to show how much of a dumb dummy teleram is. i had never heard of dennis lehane, but he appears to be a totally random run-of-the-mill crime writer, so i was confirming my suspicion that the only reason teleram would be into him is because he happened to read the books after seeing their adaptations.

That is partially true, I was introduced to his work after seeing the film adaptation of Shutter Island. But here's the thing: there are tons of people of who can become fans of a certain author after seeing a movie adaptation of their work, and unless I was some stuck-up dope who apparently thinks everyone should first know an author by their original work and not their adaptations like Bandit, I do not see any problem with that.

it's a valid way to find a book, but 1) the nature of "dennis lehane"'s work is generic enough that i think the only way you could possibly find out about him is through an adaptation, and 2) i think that's the way you find literally anything you read, not just this guy.
