Arkangel could've been better if the characters weren't so flat. Crocodile (E3) was quite good. I wrote up a bit more of my thoughts on it; I'll put it in the spoiler tag: **** The episode's sci-fi novelty once again is similar to the one in Entire History of You, with one notable difference: this sci-fi gadget accesses actual subjective memories instead of eyesight video recordings. It appears in the story of an accidental killing followed by an increasing number of murders, to cover up the previous crimes.
Together with the snowy winter-setting, it felt a bit like a bleaker version of Fargo (esp. the FX series' first season), although somewhat more formulaic. I do think it deserves praise for incorporating its sci-fi element so seamlessly, that you almost forget it, until you're reminded that everything after the initial hit-and-run happens because of it. (And even the enjoyably banal but believable self-driving pizza truck is significant to how the plot unfolds--if there was a driver, there might not have been a search for witnesses needed.)
The subjectivity of memories, and one's inability to control them, also provides a good angle on how you can't leave your sins behind. The protagonist will always be haunted by the murders she committed, even when she tries hard to concentrate on some pizza truck mishap.
Hillcoat's direction is excellent, and the Atticus Ross co-created ambient score is fittingly unsettling. The main actress did a good job, selling the resigned desperation of the character. **** Hang The DJ (E4) is terrific and the best one of the season so far. Reminded me a bit of The Lobster, although a comparison would not be fair to either. I'd say this was as great an episode as S3's San Junipero.

'Metalhead' was mostly a thrilling episode, though all-in-all kind of your standard post-apocalyptic fair without any surprises. And above all, it doesn't explain what lead to the apocalypse?? Did the killer-robo-dogs cause it? Why would someone build them in the first place?? 'Black Museum' is a twisty and pretty messed up Treehouse-of-Horror kind of episode with 3 wicked stories and a frame story. Thankfully it doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's what makes it work for me. S4 rated: E1 - 4 out of 10 E2 - 6 E3 - 7.5 E4 - 10 E5 - 7 E6 - 8.5

My boyfriend forced me to watch it this weekend. I'm so happy he did. I want my own monkey and he said it would be easy to make. ^_^ I'm going to watch the others later. For some reason, he refused to watch Crocodile and Hang The DJ. :/
