discovered dr. dog via their album "easy beat", which I've been listening to over this past week. tracks #3 to #6 is one winner after another. they can be too indie-pop-like for me like on track #7, but when they do it right they're really inventive, interestingly produced, somewhat Beatles-esque rock. pepper since you like michael cera's "true that", i can def recommend the title track, "easy beat". dude even sounds like cera on there.

- Fugazi's 13 Songs almost every day - Billie Eilish a bit, actually, of whom I only like her bangers like Bad Guy - Raconteurs' newest record, which sucked (I mostly only liked Help Me Stranger& Now That You're Gone, but this has never been a Jack White band that interested me much) - Talking Heads' Remain in Light Reba what's your fav Pixies album

great album, but surfer rosa is where their most significant innovations lie (imo almost on par with velvet underground's debut), and bossanova at first sounds rather straight-ahead on the surface, but grows on repeated listens and reveals very impressive songwriting, able to compete with some of their best prior songs. trompe le monde i could never get behind.
I can also recommend Frank Black's solo record (post-Pixies) Teenager of the Year, which is a double album jam-packed with memorable and varied tunes.

ya i have heard these albums before of course, i just dont like em. surfer rosa got the sounds but not the songs (too rough), and bossanova got the songs but not the sound (too slick)... doolittle hits the perfect noise pop balance 4 me.

my "listening to" thing is the last artist i added to my itunes, and i went back to doolittle recently and added a couple songs i used to dislike.... but actually my mother and i started reading morrissey's ludicrous autobiography together so i've mostly been listening to the smiths this week. these are my 3x3 favorite smiths songs
- shakespeare's sister - william it was really nothing - heaven knows i'm miserable now - ask - you've got everything now - pretty girls make graves - barbarism begins at home - cemetry gates - a rush and a push and the land is ours
