also any kind of sliding light switch, but especially the one we had for a floor lamp, where i could slide it with me foot.
cmon people, these are just BORING things that held a strange kind of CHARM and ATTRACTION for you as a CHILD. they might still bring you an UNUSUAL PLEASURE when you encounter them now, just because of your FORMER FASCINATION. the things about which your parents told you "that ain't nothing to play with" or "that ain't a toy." (NO LEWD REMARKS.)

I was weirdly scared but also fascinated by the grater. My mum must have told me "it's ow" when I was very very very young and that really stuck in my brain, but I also liked how the holes looked like little slippers and even smaller little slippers.

You know how fountain pen ink cartridges have a tiny ball in them, to block the ink before it's used? I had a childhood fixation on those. Used to cut open the cartridge after it was empty, and collected the balls in a little matchbox. I think they're made from glass.

that reminds me how i loved the "trackball" on the bottom of a computer mouse. i would roll my fingertip around on it and wish i could take it out. my wish kind of came true when my mom got a computer mouse that looked like this: i would steal that trackball all the time. oh snap, the laser mouses were just as entertaining though, cuz you could cover the laser with your fingertip and your nail would glow red.

I don't see them much anymore, but I LOVED those little chains made of tiny metal balls which used to attach tags to clothing. What I especially loved was that they came with little clasps so you could not only undo them, but then attach them on to other little metal ball chains and create your own super long metal ball chain. They were great and I miss them.
