Well, if it's just the side of the ankle in just the pictures, it could be the simple fact that Helquist put the eye on either ankle that was visible at the current moment, if he wanted the eye in the picture but couldn't shift the perspective for some reason. Or he just didn't think about it.

I think that may be from Brett's perrspective that is why the eye has switched sides. I don't like how the eye sybol changes though.

I agree; heres an example: oon page 105 of TVV Jacques' tattoo is on the outside of his left ankle; if it were to be on the inside of teh left ankle then Helquist would have to turn the whole pictre around and have Jacques' foot sticking out for you to see the tattoo. And with how the pictures drawn that would be hard to do.

I don't like how the eye sybol changes though. yeah, i thought that was kinda dumb too, but as said before, humans make mistakes. but (just a guess) from the first few books it didn't seem like the series was really going anywhere, know what i mean? the plot never got any more involved since the first one- kids meet olaf, no one believes he's really olaf, kids foil the plot, olaf gets away. maybe in the first few he didnt count on the series taking off, and so he created this whole involved plot with vfd and beatrice and all that kinda stuff. so- perhaps he drew the eye normally (like an eye) because it was originally supposed to be that way, but later on he changed it because its meaning had changed to stand for the v.f.d. members. just a hunch......... or maybe he drew it that way, because we weren't supposed to know about v.f.d. before and if he drew it that way we never would've guessed that it looked like the v.f.d. letters anyway.
