Found these: The second game based on the popular children's books by Lemony Snicket. In this card game, players are looking to complete sets of characters. There are 4 different sets: The Baudelaire Orphans, Count Olaf in Disguise, Olaf's Henchmen and the Orphans Confidants. Players take turns drawing a card from either the draw pile or the top card from the discard pile in hopes of completing their sets. Aside from Character Cards, there are special cards that augment play: Olaf's Eye - lets you see another players hand. Burning House - Lets you destroy a set of another player Mr. Poe - Forces another player to make another set Lemony Snicket - Disables ALL other special cards Beatrice - acts as a wild card in completing your sets First player to complete their sets wins the hand and may retrieve a victory card from either the center or from an opponent. The game ends when there are no more victory cards left in the center. From the box: Rescue the Baudelaire orphans by building sets of characters that include Uncle Monty, the Hook-Handed Man and Count Olaf! From the rules: Sadly the Object of this game is not to have a pleasant experience, for any game involving the Baudelaire Orphans will surely end in disappointment. However should one choose to play anyway, his or her objective is to be the first player to collect a majority of seven victory cards. One victory card is awarded to the winner of each round. >>>It looks pretty well drawn.

Do you happen to know who illustrated these? They seem similar to Brett Helquist's illustrations, but it looks like there's something different about them, and I'm wondering if they got a more commercial company/group of artists to colour/print/manufacture them. Does it say on the box?
I must get these, the pictures look lovely.

OMFG!!! I must have them! Although I don't like much the drawings. They are a crappy imitation of Bret's style.

I am glad that the character design resembles Bret's style, but the coloring of the illustrations is different. And that takes away the "Snicket/Bret feeling" if you know what I mean.

The illustrations remind me of the art on the 8-Ball box and the parlor game. Not quite like Brett's work--they're more vividly colored and less shaded--but very pretty. I must own this. *Covet covet covet*

I saw those online too, but when I searched to buy them online, I found none. boardgamegeek.com must get advance copies of games before they come out. They also have a "mass market" version of the Perilous Parlor Game on their site. I want one too! www.boardgamegeek.com/game/11641

Is Beatrice the woman in the reddish hat reading a letter? I wasn't sure at first, but I inferred that she was Beatrice from the text. Also, what's Lemony(the man whose head is out of the frame) holding? By the way, the game's designer is named Brian Yu, and he also designed the parlor game.

Well, Brian Yu is a terrible artist. I HATE the drawings on all the Snicket merchandise.
Why is Lemony so fat?! He looks more like Bruce than LS!

Indeed! And where is Lemony's trademark medium length beige coat? That card certainly could have been drawn better, but I like the style of the drawings in general. However, Brett's illustrations still rock my metaphorical socks more.

They're going to have to change the way the characters look on all this new merchandise... It will be very unfamiliar to people who saw the movie. That animator is the same guy who drew the coverart for the new edition of The Perilous Parlor.
I have a feeling the animation on the books may change a bit. The same happened with Harry Potter. Look at him on the cover of the first book to new animations of him.

Harry Potter didn't really changed much. I believe it was more of the style of Mary GrandPre (HP illustrator). And some of the illustration in black and white in ASOUE have changed. The shading style Bret uses is different in some books.

I thought that that was Esmé. Yeah, I thought it was, but it's Beatrice. This amuses me to no end. And as much as an A Series of Unfortunate Events addict I am, I'll probably buy them. Not that I'll play with them or anything, I'll just get them just so I can say that I have them.
