I'm really happy to see a version of the pinching exchange in. A very nice clip. Updates every three days gives us nine updates total with the last on the 25th. Hypothetically. If the calendar is indeed on a three-day schedule then these will be the other upload dates: 7th 10th 13th 16th 19th 22nd 25th Which is interesting because this means that the rumour we may get a trailer on the 13th may not be so far fetched. ("Rumors" and "may" being the operative words of course.)

Frauds (1993) Dir. Stephan Elliot. A very uneven but hugely entertaining Australian dark comedy. Hugo Weaving and Josephine Byrnes play a young married couple who get mixed up in a scheme involving death by crossbow and insurance fraud. Phil Collins(!!!) is genuinely a blast as their psychopathic insurance claims adjuster who decides to ruin their lives just for fun.

Edit: Briefly forgot that I didn't post this thread, and changed the thread title. I've changed it back, but not without having first established that the book's full title is literally too long for the subject line... Yeah, that's the reason why I haven't changed it outside of altering the date.

Actually, the title structure reminds me of File Under: Suspicious Incidents, until of course they inserted a "13" into that title and promptly evaporated its original sense. Speak of the Devil: Both U.S. and U.K. listings for this book now give it the much more lucid and elegant title of Read Something Else: Collected Dubious Wit and Wisdom. Thanks for clearing that up, HarperCollins. Amazon is now listing the book's name as Read Something Else: Collected & Dubious Wit & Wisdom of Lemony Snicket.

Can't say I'm surprised that today's sneak peek wasn't posted! We've been kinda gypped with the marketing this past year. Not to be so bah-humbug, but the advent calendar is kind of a cheap idea anyway. (This says nothing of the fact that most ASOUE characters would likely be celebrating Hanukkah.) ASOUE is a series about a secret society, chock full of easter eggs, codes, and riddles... it is just begging for an inventive turn of its marketing! Instead we get... a Christmas-inspired countdown? Netflix incorporated those deeper, VFD elements into the first season's build-up and then just stopped. And this would be disappointing if it WASN'T our final month before it's all said and done. These stills don't do much to whet the appetite - we got plenty with the tie-in book. It's just disappointing to see things go out with a whimper instead of a bang. The TIHOSO book is representative of the creativity and care I wish extended to Netflix's marketing. To be fair, it seems like most Netflix shows in the last year or so have received a lot less marketing, I don't think Netflix has been singling ASOUE out in particular. I personally think the advent calendar could be a really neat idea as long as they A) Don't just have it stills and then a trailer on Christmas [you know, have clips and other fun stuff to mix it up] and B) remember to post the damn things when they are supposed to. Yet another example of Netflix's shortened time span when it comes to marketing that might serve as a grave portent for us ASOUE fans. The third season of the (fairly popular) Netflix original series Travelers is coming out on the 14th of this month, and only got its official trailer released today. :Edit: This means that they only left an 11-day gap between the trailer and the release. I'm starting to slightly get the feeling that rumour that we might get the trailer on Christmas may turn out to be true. And if it is, I desperately hope that they resume posting the advent calendar, some content is better than none. :Edit: It strikes me that netflixasoue might possibly have some additional insight into this scenario with the advent calendar?

I spoke to someone who runs a fan account who said that besides negative comments being posted online, they knew several people who actually emailed Netflix their complaints. Imagine if they just dropped the whole idea because of the backlash. Strange if true, but yet stranger things have happened... Did I miss something? What negative comments? I have seen a number of people in the comments below the video of the first advent post, complaining about how the ones for the second and third have not been posted. But I'm not entirely sure why that would make Netflix drop the whole advent calendar idea. I also certainly hope that they haven't decided to scupper the idea for any reason. A tiny amount of marketing is preferable to none at all.

Well, it's now just a few minutes past six (PST, where Netflix headquarters are located) and we haven't received a post for today either.
What a shambles this whole thing has turned out to be.

Season 1 felt pretty complete, having interesting story arcs and even surprising longtime readers. It feels like it could have been just been a stand-alone miniseries. Season 2 was a little less satisfying and a bit excclectic, being in-the-middle and not having the same sense of thematic cohesion. But that’s the classic problem with middle entries and I have high hopes for Season 3. As far as I can tell, Season 1 was made as its own product, whereas Seasons 2 and 3 were essentially written and filmed as one giant production block, which might partially be the reason for that feeling.

It's kind of jaw-dropping just how badly they've handled the advent calendar, I mean it literally took them all of one day to mess it up.
One Day!

What the heck is going on with this Advent Calendar? Is it actually happening? it's so weird, why haven't they posted anything today? this has been a very messy marketing season It is quite odd that they haven't posted another advent video for the second. I have a feeling some intern at Netflix might've made a bit of a slip-up.

This may sound a bit dumb but... I don’t understand where the “countdown” thing comes from... the “calendar” marked 1, and it was released on December First... a count down should be from 30 to 1, shouldn’t it? Isn’t it just a calendar? 🤔😳 like, from time to time they will put a picture with the day of the month? Or maybe I missed something? EDIT: just remembered that “Advent” is also related to Christmas...! Facepalm for me... but still, it’s weird they put “1” instead of “25” An advent calendar has 25 boxes usually labelled 1-24/25, which are opened one by one according to the date they correspond with. 1 on the first, 2 on the second, and so on.

Too, just because it's counting down doesn't necessarily mean there's an unveiling of anything on that day. That's certainly true. However, an Instagram acquaintance of mine reached out to Joe Tracz and he said that it actually is counting down to something. That does make a lot of sense, after all, most advent calendars do put something special in their December 25th spot to demarcate it from the other 24. Of course, whether or not it will be a trailer, and if so, the only one we'll get, does remain to be seen.

I don't really think they'll wait that long. A week before release for the first actual trailer seems like kind of a bad marketing strategy. I could believe getting a trailer this week and then another on Christmas. Too, just because it's counting down doesn't necessarily mean there's an unveiling of anything on that day. Yeah, you and I are definitely in agreement on this one; there's really no way to say for sure when they'll release a trailer. The trouble though, is that Netflix's marketing schemes are so mercurial that it's always tough to know exactly what they're planning. :Edit: That's why I'm hoping they'll do more than just release pictures for almost a whole month and actually put out some clips from the season as well.
