I've never been to Michigan, but my aunt and uncle live there. They're Yoopers (thanks for spelling it out, I've never spelled it before, only said it out loud), which means they live in that top part that's not connected to the rest of Michigan. And states:

Washington
Oregon
California
Nevada
Idaho
Montana
Wyoming
Colorado
Arizona
New Mexico
Texas
Georgia
Kentucky
Tennessee
Florida
Missouri
Illinois
North Carolina

So that's 18. Plus Alberta (in Canada) and Mexico.
