It is a scam, I've seen it before. Do exactly what you've been advised. block him, do not call, do not reply, do not contact him at all. Keep the e-mails, scan them with virus software. Show them to your parents and they can determine if the authorites need to be advised....I doubt you are the only one he's scamming this way.

Captiosus: Don't even think about helping him, fool! Christain my tail! Even if he is Christain and he is telling the truth I wouldn't risk it--chances are he's a liar. J: Just don't call. Don't do anything. IGNORE IT! BLOCK HIM! OR DISPOSE OF THAT E-MAIL ADRESS! Captiosus: Tell him, if you feel this bad, you feel horrible but you just can't trust anyone over the 'net.

Ya, I had something similar to this emailed to me before. It seems fake, but who knows.

Eh, he sent me another email, but I already deleted it. It said something like: God Bless you for your efforts. Didn't try to rope me back or anything. Hm
Nigeria scam. might be a variation on that.

Why would a senator need help transfering money over seas? It's slightly creepy that a firm gave out your E-mail, do you know which "Marketing Firm" this person is talking about? Yow, how creepy.

Swans, was there an attachment to yours? There was an attachment to mine, and yeah.
I just read about the mydoom worm. The thing pops up everytime I sign on, like a warning not to open any attachments. Good thing I didn't open any of those attachments. *Breathes sigh of relief* Yeah, supposedly this virius sends through email attachments. And its bad. Duh!

I haven't had any experience in this sort of thing but I have read about it alot. My theories are:
1. It's not real, just a prank from one of your friends (or enemies).
2. This is just some phsyco who found your profile off an email (such as hotmail, msn, yahoo) and is either trying to scare you or has a sadistic mind and finds it all funny.
3. Some sicko trying to get your confidence to have maybe a relationship or friendship with you (this is why you shouldn'y email him to say no at all,t don't email him all together, or else he'll think you care enough about him to say sorry).
4. I regret saying this and doubt it, but you have to consider all aspects of the case, that maybe you're making the whole thing up to see our responses if you really were in trouble.
Once again, sorry if I have offended you by this last one, nothing meant personally by it.

I think it's really a scam... being that it's on snopes, it's been found before, and shown to be a real scam. They claim to want to give you money, but... Should you agree to participate in this international bail-out, something will go wrong. Paperwork will be delayed. Questions will be asked. Officials will need to be bribed. Money from you — an insignificant sum, really, in light of the windfall about to land in your lap — will be required to get things back on track. You pay, you wait for the transfer . . . and all you'll get in return are more excuses about why the funds are being held up and assurances that everything can be straightened out if you'll just send a bit more cash to help the process along. Once your bank account has been sucked dry or you start making threats, you'll never hear from these Nigerians again. As for the money you've thrown at this, it's gone forever. And it's not just a harmless prank... According to a 1997 newspaper article:
"We have confirmed losses just in the United States of over $100 million in the last 15 months," said Special Agent James Caldwell, of the Secret Service financial crimes division. "And that's just the ones we know of. We figure a lot of people don't report them."As for the phone number you were given, my mom has confirmed that it's international (ironically, I looked it up, and it's Nigeria, so it really is a Nigerian scam!). As for the numbers that charge a lot a minute... www.snopes.com/inboxer/scams/809.htm#add (it has a link to the place where I looked up the country).

It's wierd that this guy mailed you more than once though, plus he had your name. That makes it seem less random listy. I guess he probably got it off some christian mailing list.
You should send your version of it on to snopes.
