I hope this is in the right category...
Have any of you ever played the game Earthbound, for Super Nintendo... It's the game with Ness, Paula, Poo, and Jeff...

I think it's horrifyingly ironic that I am pretty much the only person on this board besides Jerome who has heard of, and adores, Earthbound.

I think we actually have a lot in common outside DD. LET'S BE FRIENDS!
I never beat it. My mom almost did, though, she got to like level 69, fought Pokey in the spider machine thing and died. I never got past Giant's Step, but I watched her play all the time.
I AM THE THIRD STRONGEST MOLE! *psychadelic background*

SUre, in fact, let's forget ever fighting...
Omg! I love Earthbound... After you fight Pokey in the spider machine, you go on to fight Giygas, himself, and you beat his first form, using hit points, then his second, using hit points, but then his third form has only one way to beat it... You have to use Paula's "Pray" 9 times... Each time you do, it shows a different group of your friends from the game (i.e. The Runaway Five, Tonay [Jeff's Friend]) praying, and it hits Giygas, like 1,000,000 hit points, and then when you beat him, it's this whole big speech, you return all of your team to their homes, go home, look at the photograph book, and then it shows credits, but then after the credits, it shows Ness in his home, and Pickey (Pokey's Brother) comes to the door and gives you a letter from Pokey, that says "I'll be back..."
I adore that game...

It's funny because we can't agree on ANYTHING in DD. Someone must have a weird, weird sense of humor.
Did you ever pick up Earthbound Zero on ROM? It's the one for the original Nintendo. They're rereleasing that and Earthbound in Japan, for GBA, calling it "Mother 1+2." I really want it. I suck at EB0 though.
Tangent: since I was talking about EB0 on ROM, you HAVE TO HAVE TO get Sweet Home on ROM. It's by I think Capcom, it's a survival-horror RPG and one of the creepiest yet completely awesome things I've ever seen. It's about these five explorers trapped in a haunted mansion with zombies and ghosts and evil androids and salsa (they have to get these paintings done by this artist Mamiya Ichirou, who went crazy and her ghost haunts the mansion now, which is filled to the brim with booby traps). Even though it's for the NES it's got some of the goriest stuff I've ever seen in it. It's brilliant, creepy, and completely insane. Easily one of my favorite RPGs ever.

OMG! I love scary survivor games... Did you ever beat Sweet Home? Which of the 5 survive? Is it set that only 1 makes it out, or does it depend on how good you do?
I want EB0 so bad... It sounds like the graphics suck, but the game sounds so cool! Did you ever beat EB0?

I NEVER beat Sweet Home. I was about to, but three-quarters of the way through the game the boss blows half your party back to the beginning of the mansion. (There's a secret path back to where you left off but I'm stupid so I didn't find it.) So I abandoned my game. I only got that far via inventory-hacking, anyway XDDD
There's different endings depending on how many of your guys survive--unlike normal RPGs, though, once someone dies in this game you can never revive them.
I sucked at EB0 too. For some reason the battles are super hard in that game, at least for me.

Yeah, from reading about it on websites, EB1 sounds way better... Do you still have Earthbound...

It's somewhere in my basement with my SNES. I never play it anymore XD You should go to www.zophar.net (I think--or Google for "zophar's domain") to pick up an NES emulator, I use NESten. Then go to www.edgeemu.com, register (free and easy, and you only have to do it once anyway), then search for "sweet home" on Advanced Search. And beat off the mass amount of popups with a stick, but it's a small price to pay for the sweet sweet RPG. Save the ZIP to wherever you're going to put your ROMs, I have a separate "NES ROMs" folder for that. Then you just open NESten, open up the ROM, configure the settings to your keyboard so you're all comfortable, then start playing. Oh yeah, and GameFAQs will be your best friend when you're playing Sweet Home. Also, I got some pics for you. Take a gander. Sweet Home, and our intrepid cast, plus one really angry ghost. Left to right, top to bottom: Mamiya Ichirou, Taro (guy with torch), Akiko (nurse), Kazuo (camera dude), Asuka (girl with vaccuum) and Emi (girl with key). Mamiya Ichirou puttin' the smack down. Mamiya used to paint, see, and she hides clues in her frescoes. Photograph them using Kazuo's camera and letters appear. Home is where the heart is, after all. Plus an Evil Doll. Okay, this dude is hands-down my FAVORITE character in the game besides maybe Asuka: the zombie. As you can see he's really only half of a zombie, but he's awesome because he gives you motivational words. There aren't that many zombies who give you motivational words, you know. Usually they just try to eat your brains.
