The books always call Count Olaf just Count Olaf. But is Olaf his first name or his last name? Count is a just a title. Like if u were named Jacob Miller. u could be Count Jacob or Count Miller. So could Count Olaf be Olaf Baudilaire (or however u spell thier last name). or Olaf could be is last name. i kno this really probably has absolutly nothing to do with the books but i am just woundering.

Olaf is his first name because VFDers are known by the first letter in their first name and Olaf as known to other VFDers as O.

Exactly, O is an awful villain arsonist and a former member of VFD. O=Olaf, and I hope convincing people of this isn't nearly as hard as making them think Beatrice=Mrs. Baudelaire

Yeah, it does say that. Plus "Olaf", doesn't that just sound like a first name?

I don't understand that, but I do believe that Olaf is his first name and that he's somehow related to the Baudelaires.

Madame or Madamoiselle can be used before a first name or a last name...usually a last name if the woman is married. Madame is usually saved for married or older women...I wonder if there was a Mr. Lulu? Lulu is short for Olivia, actually, but I wonder if there was a husband around and if so, who was he...

of course Olaf is related to the Bauds...isn;t that the reason they went there in the 1st place? Cuz his parents wanted the bauds to live with relatives only?

In another thread we discussed the theory of "Olaf Snicket". And if Olaf is a last name, it is usually "Olafson" or some such variation.

Olivia was disguised as a gypsy type fortune teller. They always have the title Madame before their name.
