I don't think thhe M...is Mr. Poe because L said he's so afraid of him he can't even name him. He talked about Poe a lot. And O is afraid him the M but he's never afraid of P.

I don't think the Man is Mr. Poe. Really, there is not a lot of evidence that points that he even resembles Mr. Poe at all.

1. Poe has hair. Man does not
2. Lemony and Olaf aren't afraid of Poe, but are afraid of Man
3. Man doesn't cough. Poe's cough may be a disguise, but it also may not be.
4. Poe's voice is not hoarse, although it could be from coughing.

Can anyone else add to the list?

Yes. A theory the opposite of this clearly states that Mr. Poe smokes Verdant Flammable devices(hence the cough) then stops, shaves head, fakes voice, and disguises himself in other ways to become the aforementioned man. Not to mention growing a beard. But I don't think it's very likely. Lemony might not know that Mr. Poe=Man or he might only be afraid of him in that particlar identity. However I think that Man=Olaf's brother and is called either M or N.

Whoever the person is, if disguised, would not have to grow a beard any more than Olaf did (or didn't) to be Stephano.

That's only one small aspect of his disguise. I think Mr. Poe might be smoking to do all that coughing in the bb in chapter 2 they say "his house smelled like some ghastly flower" leading me to the conclusion he smoked the verdant devices
