I was daydreaming one day about ASOUE (yes I was ) and a thought struck me. What if the Bauds had a chance to kill Olaf. Would they take the chance and kill him? Like if Olaf slipped (setting in TSS; something close to this anyway) and was hanging off the side of a cliff, and the bauds were there, would they kill him? I'm kind of undecided, The bauds aren't really that heartless but on the other hand, Olaf has been really mean to them (understatment of the year ) . What do you think?

Well, if they wouldn't even put Esme in a hole due to moral beliefs, I doubt they'd kill anyone. And I doubt a children's author would advocate murder.

I highly doubt it. It doesn't really matter how mean and cruel and very, very wrong he's been to them, they aren't...MURDERERS. So, they would not, like the Esme thing, even if they had the chance, they wouldn't.

Maybe, if he was hanging there, his hand might accidentally be nudged off. Or Sunny could bite his hand to help pull him up (ew!) and then he would recoil and fall. But no, they wouldn't outright.

The Baudelaires have too much moral stamina in them to kill Olaf. They had such guilt about building traps and disguising themselves, but they're learning that it's sometimes necessary to do what seems evil. Moral uncertanity in Lemony's books. Good topic for the essay of some future high schooler. Do you think the Baudelaires would let Olaf die if he was trapped in a fire(poetic justice!) or otherwise unlikely to survive?

hmm...interesting thought. ive never thought about that.
if count olaf was trapped in a fire, i think the baudelaires would try to get help or think of an invention to help him or something but i doubt they would risk their lives to save his.

Uh, I don't think they would RISK their lives to save him, no way, I mean, he possibly killed their parents! Or maybe Esme did....well, they worked together, I think, but anyways....He killed their PARENTS! They wouldn't risk their lives to save a man who killed their parents!

Yeah. I just wanted everybody's thoughts and opinions on the subject. ;D Oh well, thanks for all the responses! Like I said I'm still a LITTLE undecided, it is true that the Bauds aren't that cruel, but I would think that they'd have second thoughts on saving the person who has made their lives so miserable. Oh well, like Daemon said, the author wouldn't write that in his books, maybe a fanfiction...*thinks*

MMh maybe in the last book, Olaf is trapped, and I recon the kids WOULD save him, because they technically saved Esme from the trap in TSS. They rescue Olaf, and then they hand him over to the police. OOOOOR, there is some final show down, Olaf falls off a cliff, and we don't know if hes dead or not meh
