Is there a thread for how realistic/unrealistic ASOUE is? Cuz if not, I'd like to start it.

I think Violets inventions, Sunny's teeth, and the situation is unrealistic.

Its more realistic than a lot of series I know. e.i. The Chorincles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, and Redwall. So, it's more realistic than most series I read.

I don't understand how a lot of violets inventions work but go along with it anyway. The 2 most unrealistic things in the series are... 1. Violets bread and water invention 2. Sunny climbing the elevator shaft

And there are tons more. But that's one of the main reasons why we like them!

This might seem odd but....
I find the Baudelaire's food intake/thought capacity ratio rather unbelievable.
Book 1: Count Olaf barely feeds the children, but even so, his meals are more and more substantial than those in other books. Even so, Violet and Klaus seem to come up with quite a few good, although unsucessful ideas.
Book 3: All Aunt Josephine feeds them is disgustingly cold soup, and their only hot meal is at the Anxious Clown- yet again, brilliant ideas and contributions to their safety from all three..
Book 4: All Mr. Sir gives them is a stick of gum for lunch and some sort of soup (I think) for dinner. Yet they could still work in the factory, and Violet could still figure out that medical book (If I was that food-deprived, I could NEVER concentrate on a book that boring...)
Book 8: They really only have that meagre fruit salad in the unfinished portion of the Hospital. And so how are Klaus and Sunny not even tempted by that alphabet soup, even if it was cold?
Book 10: Marshmallows. As far as DH tells us, that's the only thing Violet and Klaus eat, Quigley really eats nothing (as far as we know) and Sunny eats a little, I guess.
I'm overweight, and I don't eat constantly (Although I'm not insulting those who do) but I do understand the importance of having nourishment to be able to function properly...

Sunny climbing the elevator shaft I definately agree there. another thing, sorta unrealistic, is in book 8 when they're performing the operation on Violet. Wouldn't doctors who were watching the operation be a little suspicious about the surgeons performing a "craineoectomy"? it's like they were thinking, "hmmm, craineoectomy means the removal of someone's head. so basically, those doctors are going to cut off that girl's head, therefore killing her...wow! what great form of entertainment!"
