My mum and I were trying to find the Haunted Mansion yesterday and I happened in the eye line of Memento Mori, the shop right next door. I got a bit fangirly and kept saying over and over, "Remember you will die." XD

I ordered a slice of coconut cream pie from a bakery/restaurant tonight, initially without realising the connection XD I haven't eaten it yet, but it certainly looks yummy.

I had a dream once where I meet Lemony Snicket/Daniel Handler. I had followed some clues written down in a book to a street corner where he appeared. He showed me an invention he had made and invited me back to his house. There were m&m cookies on every surface and he was very excited to show me a tiny teapot he owned.

The day that I finished reading The End, my house burned down, and I became an orphan. I then went to live with a distant relative, who had a single eyebrow, and a tattoo of an eye on his ankle.

Had college today. Pynchon's Crying Of Lot 49 was mentioned, as was a poem by Baudelaire.

I think one of my textbooks must be a VFD training manual of some sort (surely the VFD has some uses for phonologists) :
Not so much a coincidence, I guess, but I find the style familiar and reassuring.

Catching up on Naked Attraction last night, I noticed that one of the girls had an eye tattoo on her ankle.

While I was on a train earlier, I spotted a man with JS written on his suitcase. I'm assuming it's his initials.

So, I've been reading the science fiction of 1943 for the Retro-Hugo awards, and I found two interesting things. First, in 'Goldfish Bowl' by Ansod Macdonald (really Robert A. Heinlein) the story ends with the goldfish biting their keeper's finger when he tries to clean the bowl. And secondly, in 'The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag' by John Riverside (also really Robert A. Heinlein: he seems to have written almost everything published that year) there is an epigraph:
—the end it is not good. From too much love of living, From hope and fear set free, We thank with brief thanksgiving Whatever gods may be That no life lives forever, That dead men rise up never, That even the weariest river Winds somewhere safe to sea.
Also, what has happened to this thread? It used to be one of our busiest.

This was actually years ago, but I remember once opening a copy of The Wasteland in my school library, and finding the exact passage that Quigley sends to the Queequeg had been underlined. I don't know if it was another fan of ASOUE who had done it, or if it was just a coincidence, but it felt really, really bizarre and cool at the time.
