"...You are no longer neophytes." Said professor X. "You've completed your training with flying colors, a phrase which here means, "you've done especially well." And now, you're all ready to take on the big stuff. The..."
In the back of the VFD auditorium was young Lemony Snicket and young--though slightly older than young Lemony Snicket--Olaf.
"We're gonna learn about fire!" Olaf cackled.
"Shh," Lemony said.
"Don't tell me to 'shh,' you dirty cakesniffer." Olaf said.
"You're as much as a cakesniffer as I am," sighed Lemony. Olaf's grimy hand reached into the eye-shaped purse of the girl in front of him, the girl sitting next to Lemony. Suddenly, Lemony grabbed his hand. "You should know better than to in a room full of volunteer fighting deleteriousness. Deleteriousness means--"
"I know what deleteriousness means," Olaf said.
"Olaf! How did you worm your way into VFD, anyway?" Asked the girl--Beatrice--in front of him. "You're exactly the type of person we should be fighting."
The kids went out in the field for lunch.
"Kal!" Beatrice shouted to the girl a few feet from her. "Kal!"
"Oh! Beatrice! Hi!" She said.
"Have you seen Jacques?" Lemony asked.
"I think he's playing with H." Kalista said.
"H?" Lemony asked.
"Hector. Oh, right. You're starting the initials this year." Kalista said. Kalista was a year ahead of her Lemony, and Lemony was a year ahead of Jacques. Kalista would often teach Lemony and Beatrice her curriculum so they would be ahead--though, due to that fact that almost everyone's siblings were in VFD with them, and the older siblings would teach the younger siblings, he wasn't that much ahead. Olaf, however, had two older siblings--Quinlan and Panya, but they didn't help him at all--they often picked on him. In fact, when they spotted him on the field, that's what they did. Quinlan, his brother, picked him up and held him over his head. Olaf was small and scrawny in comparison. Meanwhile, Beatrice and the two eldest Snicket just watched.
"Why can't they notice that Olaf and Panya and Quinlan are just no good?" Beatrice said, as Quinlan threw Olaf into the mud.
"Hey--it's that Snicket runt and that lowly janitor-to-be. Let's go after them," Panya said. With that, Quinlan and Panya ran, leaving Olaf in the mud, to pick on Jacques and Hector.
Sorry, I've got writer's block right now. I might continue it after an hour in the throne room.
