but keep in mind a large amount of homosexuals have said they believe their sexuality is a choice.
Do you have articles you can reference to for that where gay people says this? Though I'm not saying you're wrong, I have never actually met a gay person who thought this.
If sexuality can't be compared to race, then compare it to religion insted. You can't TELL someone is Jewish, but that doesn't mean that if you find out it's okay to discriminate against them.

im not saying that i dont like homos, im saying that it is strange to see a guy with another guy. im not going to sit next to a homo, but im not going to run away screaming from one. it is not normal to be a homo. it is extremely ABNORMAL.

Sorry, gotta speak my piece here... a) This topic has come up again! There have been plenty of other threads where this has been discussed... some people believe it's a choice, some don't. Both have given their opinions. Some have had to give it multiple times. I'm sorry, I realize this is an important discussion and a lot can be learned from it, but as much as I like reading these debates, are they just going to keep repeating themselves on different threads? b) I like the dude who said that "it really shouldn't matter." I know this is one of those Utopia-never-going-to-work type things, but it would be cool if we could just say "hey, you love who you love, I love who I love, we all be happy, we all eat chocolate." Have they really proven that homosexuality is like race? I don't think they have found the DNA code for someone's sexuality.. I'm not saying it doesn't exist but for right now I haven't seen any actual evidence. Well, unless you count polling people and asking them (which isn't evidence)-- but keep in mind a large amount of homosexuals have said they believe their sexuality is a choice. I don't think you should discriminate based on choice but in terms of homophobia scaling to the height of racism-- I don't think the two can be compared. You don't just look at someone and know they're gay. You look at someone and know they're black-- gays won't ever really have to face that. I know you can't see homosexuality (usually), but being gay is like being straight. I could never be able to have "feelings" for a girl, because I'm straight. Its just the other way around for gay people. Its not a choice. I couldn't (and I doubt you could either) choose to like women because I (and you are) am straight. SOrry if my analigy (is that spelled right? I don't think so) offended you I didn't mean to. I was simply pointing out that sexuality is a biological thing. |

btw I know a variety of gay people. I have a gay cousin, and my sister's art teacher is gay she also has a friend who is gay and none of them seem to have made the choice. A study has been shown that 37% of suicides are homosexuals. SInce the discrimination caused them to kill themselves I don't think they would have chosen to be gay.
