The possibility that Lemony published early drafts of the books soon after the events took place is interesting, and may help account for some apparent inconstistencies. If he published them early, he probably just sent them to VFDers, and then years later he made the "official" versions, with later information filled in. Excellent! That would explain the letter to K in TSS. If anyone intercepted it, they would think it a mere children's book. Then, once he was finished with the book completely, he would publish it properly. Excellent, I suggest you go make a theory, before I do, and steal it ;D.

Not too important, but Snicket's idea of "many years," is very skewed. In one book (Although I don't remember which at all, but I know for a fact it said something like this.) he said "many years had passed..." and it turned out to be 2-4 years max, perhaps many years means just a few?
