They are 13. There's no question about it.

To (hopefully) end the eggplant debate -- There are several different varieties of eggplant, as there are with many other vegetables. Some are indeed smaller than bananas but relatively the same shape, some are small and round-ish, and some are large and somewhat bulbous-looking. I believe that Snicket is referring to the last kind, although Sunny should be considerably larger than even one of those. Anyway, here are some pics: (The smaller-than-a-banana variety) (The larger variety) (another picture) (and one more) Anyway, yes, I agree that the Quagmires are between the ages of Klaus and Violet, so probably almost 14 or so.

so if their birthdays match, they should be 14 now because klaus is 13 and violet is 15

He sat down next to a girl who looked absolutely identical to the boy. She looked about the same age, and also had very dark hair, very wide eyes and a notebook tucked into the pocket of her thick wool sweater. The only difference seemed to be that the girl’s notebook was pitch black. Well of course Isadora would look about the same age she's one of Duncan's triplets

It looks like Dante was quoting TAA, probably a part of the book before the Baudelaires found out they were triplets. What's your point?

The Baudelaires turned and saw a boy with very dark hair and very wide eyes. He looked a little older than Klaus and a little younger than Violet and had a dark green notebook tucked into the pocket of his thick wool sweater. Since Klaus is a few weeks/months away from his 13th birthday, and Violet is a few weeks/months away from her 15th, then they are probably almost 14. Then if the Quagmires come back in the next book, there might be a birthday coming for them. Besides when exactly is the Baudelaires' and Quagmires' Birthdays? (I mean on the Gregorian calendar)

This has to be some kind of record for longest-lasting non-stickied thread created by a member with a deleted account in the ASOUE section.
Anyway, yeah, Quagmires age 13 or so.
Here's that list of Sunny size comparisons asked for (incomplete):
TBB: "Very small for her age, scarcely larger than a boot"; she can fit in a birdcage TRR: ? TWW: ? TMM: ? TAA: "Only a little bit larger than a loaf of bread" TEE: "Scarcely larger than a salami" TVV: ? THH: ? TCC: ? TSS: Similar to an eggplant TGG: It states her as having "recently passed out of babyhood". She probably doesn't grow too much considering the whole book takes place in a few days and follows right on from TSS TPP: ?
So, yeah, pretty incomplete...if somebody wants to do timespans and her growth and fill in the chart or whatever, be my guest.

Uh, I thought most people had already established the Quagmires were 13 as of TAA.
At the current moment however I would say they were either already 14 or nearing 14. Quigley never mentioned his birthday, in TSS, so I doubt it had occured then, but as Lemony says, I've hardly researched the Quagmire case as much as I've researched the Baudelaire's so it might never be mentioned.

It also says in TAA that Sunny is somewhat the size of a bag of flour, because that's what the Quagmires use as Sunny when they're pretending to be the Baudelairs.
I noticed something in TAA that bothers me. It says VP Nero is 5' 8'' but on the cover, he towers over the Baudelairs. Violet is barely as tall as his waist, and Klaus is half the size of her. It's just doesn't seem like a very accurate portrayal.

It's just Brett Helquist's exaggerated style, I guess, to make him look more sinister, as sinister as a man with pigtails can be. Is Sunny even the appropriate size for her age. She's around 1 to be able to walk and about how "big" is a one-year-old?
