I sound like such a geek... but I don't care! I just can't surpress it any longer! I love Star Trek! Anyway, Pandora's avatar got me going, so you blame her for the random trek-obsessed thread. The Next Generation is definitely my favourite series (The Orginal Series was like beating your head against a brick wall... in a kind of funny way, DS9 was a soap opera in space, Voyager was good, and I've only seen one or two episodes of Enterprise so I don't feel qualified to comment... but they didn't look too great, so I gave that up), with Data as my favourite character, although I really love pretty much all the other characters from TNG in my own way... even Wesley Crusher. Yes... it may be surprising, but even he has a place in my heart. *is a dork* Anyway, I noticed more than Pandora and I had written comments about Star Trek, so there have to be more Trekkies (or at least wannabe Trekkies like me) out there (and sorry if I offended anyone by calling them Trekkies)! Go forth! Post about random Star Trek related stuff. Favourite series, episodes, published fanfiction (anyone other than me ever read that terrible stuff?), characters, pairings. Hmmm... and www.sev.com.au has some pretty hilarious Star Trek parodies...

Heh, I was confused when I saw this thread. I thought I'd be the only one who'd make a thread like this, then I thought I might have made it, but then I got over my stupidity and saw your name, so yay! I have fellow Trekkie friend! And if you're gonna blame me, then I'm blaming my parents who made me watch Star Trek with them when I was 6. Not that I didn't enjoy watching it, but I like pinning things on my parents. I only like TNG. I now have a grugde against all the ones who came after it because they brought, um Obrien?, they brought him to a newer one when they should have brought Troi and Rikker. And that brings me to my next topic which is: Troi and Rikker! Troi and Rikker! Troi and Rikker! Troi and Rikker! Troi and Rikker dammit! I started watching this show again because I realized Troi and Rikker were the first couple I ever liked. But then I realized they aren't together much in the show, Rikker falls in love with any woman who walks on the Enterprise, and they only hint at their realationship but don't show it. There also are not enough Troi/Rikker icons. That made me mad. I already got rehooked though, so now I keep watching. I think Wesley is adorable, even if he is a bit annoying, I'm suprised he didn't go on to do other things. I don't like the way Piccard talks, but I love him just because he's the captain. Do you watch the episodes on Spike TV? They got this captain with a western accent, he was annoying, I kept screaming at him. It made my parents mad. Oh yeah, I got them hooked on Stark Trek again too. Besides her being with Rikker, I love Deanna Troi. How cool is her empathy? Plus, her chocolate addiction is so funny. Once she was telling the computer she wanted 'real' chocolate icecream not the healthy perfect stuff the computer gives her. The computer didn't understand. Ahh she's just so cute. Her friendship with Beverly is fun too, being they are the only two girls on the ship they focus on. Oh, I love Data too. How can you not? Heh Swans, are you talking about Worf, the Klingon?

Yep, I think she's talking about Worf.
I like the original series best. Then, TNG. Then, I didn't watch any series other than that.
In the original series, Spock is my favorite. In TNG, I think Data is my favorite... I think when I was younger, my favorite was... augh, mind black... the guy with the visor thing over his eyes... because he hosted Reading Rainbow.
Pandora, if you like Riker/Troi, you should read 'Imzadi,' by Peter David, it's a really good book.

Jordi! Jordi La Forge, thats exactly why I liked him too. Reading Rainbow was awesome. I used to think Jordi was really funny but as I watch now, he's lame.
Imzadi.. I've heard that before, what's it about?

I did too when I started watching again, but of course she's Gina!
20 minutes.. thats a start. First 20, then 40, then finally 60 minutes and you'll be hooked! Muahaha, my new mission is to get Swans as hooked on Star Trek (and Rikker/Troi) as I am.
I posted once somewhere about a girl who was afraid of her heritage, she could morph into anything so she became a normal girl. Wesley fell in love with her, she was actually this pretty glowing ball of light. I liked her better that way.

Imzadi.. I've heard that before, what's it about? "Years before they served together on board the U.S.S. Enterprise, Commander William Riker and ship's counselor Deanna Troi had a tempestuous love affair on her home planet of Betazed. Now, their passions have cooled, and they serve together as friends. Yet the memories of that time linger and Riker and Troi remain Imzadi - a powerful Betazoid term that describes the enduring bond they still share. During delicate negotiations with an aggressive race called the Sindareen, Deanna Troi mysteriously falls ill... and dies. But her death is only the beginning of the adventure for Commander Riker - an aadventure that will take him across time, pit him against one of his closest friends, and force him to choose between Starfleet's strictest rule and the one he calls Imzadi. So, that's the thing from the inside cover. It shows how they meet and that sort of thing, and then goes to the time when TNG takes place. Then stuff happens, and time travel is involved somehow. And the stuff about the "love affair"... it makes the book sound like it's going to be dirty, but it's not really... it skips over parts where they "do it," so it's not like the book is an excuse just to get them in bed or anything like that. There's also a sequel, and Worf is involved somehow, but I haven't read that yet (first, I need to reread the first one so I don't get confused).

OH MY GOD! I READ THAT ONE!!! IT WAS ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!!! I love fanfiction, possibly because it's so crappy. I haven't read the 2nd or 3rd ones, though... I sort of gave up. Actually, it was reasonably well written for Star Trek fanfic... I liked how it was in a whole bunch of different parts (like the beginning, then the end, then the present, then the backstory and all that)... 'twas cool. Who else thought Nemesis was a complete ruination of everything? Yeah. Troi and Riker get MARRIED? Ummm... no. That takes everything away from the romance! It was such a... mysteriousy cooly kind of romance where you liked to speculate about stuff. Then it ruined it. And Data died. Excuse the spoilers, but that majorly sucked. I went to the movie and laughed the whole way through. Ridiculous. Anyway, GEORDI!!! I was watching reading rainbow the other day, and Levar Burton was there and he was so great! I loved how happy and friendly Geordi was! Yay! And Data! Data was awesome! I don't think he was a Nazi... but let me check... Nope. Data isn't a Nazi. Sorry to bust your bubble swans. I think the Romulans were more Naziish, with the Klingons as Russia... but that's just my weird way of seeing things. What about that one with the girl Wes fell in love with who was some crazy monster and she had some freaky guardian who didn't want them to be together? And she was a princess or something? Blah. I LOVE Q! He was so funny! My friend (who moved this year to go to university) used to have Star Trek parties (I realize this is possibly the geekiest thing ever) and we had a Q fest. It was awesome. We ate foods that started with Q. Needless to say, lots of Quiche. I loved the episode where he turned human, and showed up on the bridge naked and started flirting with Picard. Hilarious. Q and Picard always had some sexual tension between them or something. There are like, 2 episodes where Q shows up in Picard's bed somehow. theirloveissocanon. You know it. Hmmm... I loved the episodes where Geordi and Data played Holmes and Watson, and Pulaski (what a stupid McCoy imitation she was... I'm glad she was only there one season) was all "Oh wow! It's a hollowdeck!" And swans, I became a "Trekkie" that way, too. I was sick with the flu for a week and there was TNG on at least twice a day, so I started watching it and got hooked. Well, I, like Pandora, watched it when I was young (my parents' "fault")... Anyhoo... I have almost all of season six taped (except for the first part of that Chains of Command one... the one with the b*tchy new captain who tells Troi to wear an actual uniform and screws things up for Riker... is that Chains of Command? Doesn't matter). I like how you can chart the seasons by Troi's outfits. Fun! I'm a geek. Sorry.

For as long as I can remember, I was a Star Trek fan... because of my parents. We are talking about parents who, on opening day of Star Trek movies, would write me a note to get out of school early, saying I had a dentist appointment, and then take me to see the movie. Also, my dad can name any episode of the original Star Trek by just watching a few seconds of it (sometimes he only has to hear a few words and he can name it, without even seeing what's going on. He could probably also quote most of the first movie, as in college that was the only movie his roommate had, so they and their friends watched it a lot.

That's awesome. My parents refuse to let me out of school for anything (even my/their obsessions)... good ol' Star Trekky times. When I was really into Star Trek (like watching episodes and surfing Star Trek sites every day), I could name most of the later episodes, but I have lost my ability. But I was still right... the episode I was talking about is Chain of Command.

I don't know if I like the Rikker/Troi marriage or not. It does seem like it would ruin thier romance but I do like seeing them be coupley once in a while, I hate that they never show anything! I don't even remember the movie though so I'll have to watch it again and see if I liked them married.
Yup, thats the one. The woman wasn't a weird monster, she could tranform into stuff too. She didn't want the girl dating because she's supposed to rule thier planet or something like that.
I couldn't name them when I was younger, I was only like 6 or 7, but I'm starting to know them now.
Ahhhh! I was just talking to my mom, and she asked me if I saw the episode on last night. I didn't. It was called "The Game" and it was the show I'd been waiting to see since I started watching them again. I literally collapsed on the floor. It was the one where Troi describes how to eat chocolate icecream to Rikker. That was one of my only Star Trek memories from when I kid, ahh I really liked that epsiode. Sad now.

I forgot to discuss in my last post, that I agree that Nemesis ruined everything. And the ending was so sad... Why did Data have to die? I was very mad at whoever wrote the movie after that... I'm now just pretending it didn't really exist, and I just dreamed up the movie.
Also, Pandora, I like your avatar thing (it's Wesley! Horray!).

Data died? ahh I need to watch this movie again. I remember nothing inportant. Seriously the only thing I remember is when they crashed into.. something and someone said 'famous last words' thats I all I can recall. Anyway my parents said Data died but they rebuilt him to an upgraded better version of data. Didn't that happen? That's so insane to just kill Data! Hehe thanks Celrina, gotta show the Wesley love. Oh I just said I needed to rent a movie with Wesley in it to my dad and he goes "'Wesley Crusher"? Hehe. Oh I suggested Imzadi as the book for book club, two other people voted for it besides me.

Pandora needs to keep her avatars for longer. Anyway, Data sort of died. They found some other really naive version of Data that wasn't Data and then real Data sacrificed himself to save Picard. So the crappy Data-wannabe was left behind. Yup... I only watched it once and a half, so the details are sketchy. I love all the Data episodes. They used to have these Data marathons on TNN (which is a terrible channel except for Star Trek), where they showed like 6 Data episodes in a row. Book club? On this site? The one that started in the summer? Or something else?
