My school started Family Life (sex ed) classes this week. As luck (or whatever) would have it, we started off with a lesson on pornography. We had to watch this video about it...it was all the same, really, a bunch of guys talking about how they started young and got quickly addicted to it, it screwed up their lives/relationships, and don't use porn because you'll regret it sooner or later, like they did. Then we had a chat about the video and some stuff not covered in it.

The only things from the lesson that I think really haven't been mentioned here (unless I missed something) are some statements about the industry. My teacher was talking about how men are more visually stimulated, and the porn industry has been exploiting that trait for ages, but lately it's been adjusting to fit women as well...women are verbally stimulated, so the industry has been making sites where women read something to excite them, then click on links to pictures...something like that, I wasn't fully paying attention. But that's the main point of what I had to say.

I'm calling bullsalsa on the porn=drugs line of thinking. Without divulging too much about myself, I do not see anyone with a brain getting "addicted" to images and words on paper or screen. AFAIsee the only people who rely on porn that badly are the ones with issues.

Or maybe it's a guy thing. Like you said, they're stimulated more by images than words, and words are a lot cheaper to come by than images. Case in point: rummage around old bookstores looking for My Secret Life. It's classy and it's thick, so you'll have enough for quite a while.
