So Monsieur Snicket had the help write the letter? Couldn't be bothered so he passed the menial task to his "representative"? This is the most outrageous behavior I've witnessed since my own painful memory of receiving an autographed picture of Love Boat star Fred "Gopher" Grandy actually signed by his fan club president, a certain Miss Elenoir Biggsby!
For shame Sir! For Shame!

The gift was for Daniel Handler himself. It was his birthday on February 28th. Retract your cruel indictment at once. Mr. Snicket was most kind to give his representative the stationery to write a thank you note on.

For all I know this "Daniel Handler" could be a secret KINKO's employee that makes a habit of creating personalized stationary of moderate famous writers in a nefarious attempt to glean gifts from gullible internet board operators...and since when do we send presents to the help? Boxing Day is long since done!

I know no such thing...it is a well known fact that the opera glasses illustrated are a family heirloom of the Bringham Helquists, dating back to one Lord Edward Helquist. (Seen here with Lady Beulah Helquist)
Ergo, we could not have possibly given them to young Master Brettamus as it was already passed down to him by his mother, Yolanda. (Who never married, the father of Master Brettamus was never revealed, though I do know she had a fondness for traveling circus liontamers)
By trying to "sweep this under the rug" you are both an apologist and a co-conspirator and I will not let this injustice continue to go unremarked.
Good day! Reason for Editing: evil
